JOB SUMMARY: The Assistant Coordinator of Adult Day Services ensures that individuals served in the STEPS Day Habilitation program are provided personal choice and are encouraged and supported in making their own decisions to the greatest extent possible. The Assistant Coordinator of Adult Day Services ensures that individuals are offered opportunities to participate in their own or greater community to the greatest extent possible in the most integrated setting appropriate to their needs. The Assistant Coordinator of Adult Day Services assists with the management of assigned Community Division program(s) including review of admissions materials to determine placement of referred individuals. This includes assisting with the selection, supervision, and training of direct support professionals (DSPs), fiscal and clinical accountability, ensuring program files meet quality assurance standards and compliance with state and county laws and regulations. Ensuring the service objectives are met for Office for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) and any other agencies that provide oversight. The Assistant Coordinator of Adult Day Services may also fill in and serve as a direct support professional when necessary or as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Assistant Coordinator of Adult Day Services must be able to consistently and successfully perform all essential functions of the position.

1. Ensure that individuals are offered personal choice and are supported in making their own decisions to the greatest extent possible.

2. Ensure that individuals participate in their community to the greatest extent possible in the most integrated setting appropriate to their needs.

3. Ensure the safety of all individuals during the provision of services.

4. Maintain the rights of individuals being served.

5. Assist in administering all processes relating to assigned programs.

6. Work cooperatively with the individuals and the individuals’ support teams to identify areas of need and individuals’ valued outcomes.

7. Complete and maintains accurate documentation relating to the various services provided to individuals and their progress toward achieving their identified valued outcomes.

8. Assist with managing funding and departmental expenses for assigned Community Services programs.

9. Assists in hiring, training and supervising staff and volunteers in the implementation of best practice models to meet identified habilitative goals. Assists in training and supervising staff in accordance with the DSP workforce transformation competencies and agency requirements.

10. Ensure regular communication with individuals (and/or their families and/or group home staff) enrolled in programs.

11. Ensure timely and accurate completion of incident, injury reports or other reports.

12. Safely transports individuals to/from various community sites, activities, and home.

13. Share in 24-hour emergency on-call phone rotation as needed.

  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: B.S. Degree in Human Services field AND two (2) years of experience in the field of developmental disabilities or High School Diploma and 2 years’ experience in the field of developmental disabilities. One year Supervisor experience preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: A valid NYS Driver’s License and Agency approval of driving record according to agency policy and procedures.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
