About the Job:

The Nutrition Group has an open position of Assistant Cook at a local K-12 School Cafeteria.

Duties may include:

• Cooking
• Food preparation and sanitation
• Placing food orders
• HACCP and health department regulations
• Cost and inventory controls
• Accurate accounting practices
• Communications with school district official

• Maintains the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen.

• Assist in preparing the entrees and vegetable/prep.

• Maintains records of all food and supplies used. Maintains accurate records of amounts prepared.

• Ensures proper storage of leftovers.

• Breakfast server or cashier may be necessary, serves students when necessary.

• USDA/Standardized Recipes to be used daily to meet PDE and USDA regulations.

• Knowledge of service sizes (ladles, scoops, cans, pans, etc.) for portion control and to meet PDE and USDA regulations.

• Assists cook in providing sufficient food for proper operations of the school and to ensure all students have choices throughout all serving periods.

• Ability to assist in directing the production staff and ensure the work is completed in an organized and timely manner.

• Assists in performing a check at the end of each day to ensure all products are available for production the following day.

• Must be available to work special functions as needed.

• Assumes the position of cook during his/her absence.

Qualifications:

• Food Service Experience preferred
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
• Ability to do basic math and read recipes
• Must obtain clearances and pass criminal background checks
