Our seasonal summer staff are adventurous, innovative, and creative individuals who have a passion for creating a space for campers and adults to be their authentic selves, trying new activities and making life-long friendships and connections.

This position assists the Camp Director with the overall operation of camp including supervising staff, assisting with daily and weekly scheduling, managing incidents, conducting meetings, completing paperwork, and assisting around the camp as needed. This is a live-on-site position for the duration of the scheduled work-week. Staff may stay on site over the weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Camp Director in the development, implementation, evaluation, and administration of the councils' program for overnight camp. Assume responsibility for total camp management in the Camp Directors' absence.
  • Help to plan and facilitate staff training.
  • Assist in assigning campers and staff to units, managing schedules and other logistical tasks as needed.
  • Assist with transportation of campers and staff to off-site clinics, programs or other facilities.
  • Address conflicts between staff and/or campers and communicate with guardians as needed.
  • Complete weekly and end-of-season reports and evaluations.
  • Participate in general camp program and operations.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Must be a certified driver on council's behalf (clear MVR background, be at least 21 years of age and provide proof of auto insurance and motor vehicle licensing).
  • Overnight camp experience preferred.
  • Camp-specific program area experience preferred.
  • Hold or willing to obtain current Red Cross First Aid & CPR certifications or the equivalent.
  • Hold or willing to obtain a current Utah Food Handler’s Permit.
  • Possess good organizational, leadership, and teaching skills.
  • Ability to respond in crisis situations.
  • Ability to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.
