The University of Lynchburg, a private, regional university in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Mathematics and Statistics at the Assistant/Associate Professor level for the 2023-2024 academic year for the School of Sciences.

The department of Mathematics and Statistics is a student-centered, collaborative team with an excellent record of preparing students with a variety of backgrounds for graduate school and employment in education and industry. We seek an individual with exceptional potential as a teacher and scholar who can contribute to our undergraduate programs and complement existing departmental strengths.

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Specific Job Duties:

Duties include teaching courses in Mathematics and Statistics, collaborating with colleagues on curriculum development, supervising student research projects, service to the University and community, and engaging in scholarly activity.

Teaching Load:

• The normal teaching load is 12 hours per semester consisting of general education and upper-level courses in Mathematics and Statistics.

Physical Demands:

• Prolonged periods standing or sitting at a desk.

Required Qualifications:

• A PhD in Mathematics and at least 15 hours in graduate statistics is required.

• Candidates must demonstrate strong abilities in teaching, scholarship and service.

• Candidates must demonstrate a record of teaching Math and Statistics students at all levels.

• A primary interest in teaching and mentoring undergraduates at a liberal arts institution is required.
