We are a leading supplier of complete systems and solutions for automation, hardware, software, and telecommunications for smart mobility solutions.

About the Position

The Assembler I will be responsible for assembling rail communications equipment components under close supervision. Reporting to the Production Supervisor and/or Team Leader, this role is for Shift 1: 7:00am – 3:30pm.

Your Responsibilities

You will be responsible for assembling component parts using assembly prints and Bill of Materials (BOM). The Assembler I will be trained for the following:

Printed Circuit Board Assembly Focus:

  • Reading wiring diagrams and instructions to determine assembly duties
  • Selecting components to fulfill duties
    • Twisting, bending, trimming, stripping, or filing wire leads of components holes in boards to insert wire leads, using hand tools
    • Press-fitting component leads onto the board
    • Soldering wire leads and joints on underside of the board, using soldering iron, to route and connect lead wires to board and between individual components

Mechanical Assembly Focus:

    • Reading, interpreting and following blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and written instructions
    • Utilizing hand-held tools such as screw and drill guns
    • Working with the quality department to ensure the product meets quality standards
    • Crimping, stripping, and soldering wires
    • Performing 5S activities and maintaining equipment in proper working order, and improving work area cleanliness
    • Accessing and following schematic drawings from computer systems
    • Performing required functions using standard work instructions and drawings provided
    • Performing work in a safe and healthy manner; identifying deviations to standard work instructions that could lead to quality, productivity, or safety problems
    • Actively participating in cell meetings to understand instructions, customer and production needs, quality challenges, and other key issues
    • Identifying and communicating ideas to cell leaders supporting the cell’s performance and the elimination of waste
    • Scanning on and off jobs in the SAP system
    • Using the cell’s visual boards as a means for communicating challenges to your cell and receiving information on KPI for your cell
    • Participating in Kaizen and other cell improvement teams
    • Using Kanban methodology to help the team work together more effectively
    • Supporting other assembly production requirements
    • Actively participating in Continuous Improvement meetings as needed
    • Displaying professional conduct with customers and coworkers
    • Being trained on all tools needed for the position
    • Attending company meetings as required
    • Cross-functional knowledge of all duties may be assigned
    • Performing other duties upon request, direction, or assignment

Required Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
    • Knowledge of how to read drawings and applicable industry standards
    • Ability to read work instructions, schematics, assembly drawings, and prints
    • Basic computer skills
    • Good oral and written communication skills
    • Basic math skills
    • Problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

    • Minimum of one-year manufacturing experience
