Job Summary

Our Next Energy (ONE) is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Battery Cell assembly Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development, testing, and maintenance of battery cell automation assembly processes, equipment, and related systems. The Battery Cell Assembly Engineer will work closely with the Cell Product Development Team, production personnel and other stakeholders to support the production of high-quality battery cells.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize battery laser welding manufacturing processes and vision inspection to ensure high-quality and efficient production.
• Collect production data and apply standard scientific and statistical methods to analyze, document, and diagram production processes.
• Work with automation production line supplier to increase production line efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process improvement opportunities and implement solutions to enhance productivity, yield, and quality.
• Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshoot process-related issues to identify and resolve manufacturing problems.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process specifications.
• Define and implement process control strategies to ensure consistent and reliable battery production.
• Monitor and analyze process data to identify trends, deviations, and opportunities for process optimization.
• Collaborate with equipment and automation teams to design and implement new manufacturing tools and equipment for battery production.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations in all process development and manufacturing activities.
• Stay up to date with the latest advancements in battery technology and manufacturing processes to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

Qualifications and/or Experience

• S. degree in engineering, or equivalent
• Minimum of five years hands-on manufacturing experience in a process-related role
• Battery manufacturing experience preferred
• Good working knowledge and understanding of engineering software
• Vision inspection system setup & optimization.
• Laser welding setup & optimization
• Automation production line improvement.
• Planning and organizing skills
• Strong work ethic
• High level of initiative and assertiveness
• Analysis, judgment, problem solving, and decision-making skills
• Interpersonal skills, with proven ability to act hands-on and to work directly with the Operations team
