We are currently searching for an ASC Charge Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team at our Mallard Creek Ambulatory Surgery Center location.
The ASC Charge RN has the technical expertise in orthopedic peri-operative and peri-anesthesia nursing and clinical care and is able to function as a team member in Pre/Post, OR and SPD. After a daily handoff from the ASC Lead RN, this position will be responsible for managing, prioritizing and coordinating daily activities of clinical personnel and contract services in accordance to facility policy. The role facilitates work flow of clinical areas and manages efficient and effective patient care movement and works directly with the Administrator and ASC Administrative Team in coordinating all aspects of patient care activities as to ensure quality outcomes and exceptional customer service. Must be flexible with hours.
Duties include:
  • Assists in staffing as needed, and responsible for the same job responsibilities as the ASC RN when in that role.
  • When possible, the ASC Charge RN will be relieved of patient care duties to help in whatever area is needed, but there will be days when he/she assumes the charge role while circulating in the OR or assisting in Pre/Post.
  • Facilitates efficient operating room turnover by assisting rooms and helping trouble-shoot instrument or supply issues.
  • Communicates schedule changes or patient issues throughout the day with all interested parties which could include Preop, PACU, Anesthesia SPD, or members of the ASC Admin team.
  • Partners with the Orthopedic Coordinator to determine daily OR staff assignments.
  • Manage employee downtime activities-cleaning schedules; outdate checks; inventory restock, etc.
  • Assists in the reduction of employee overtime and other cost reduction initiatives.
40 hours a week, normally within the hour structure 5:00am-7:30pm. Ambulatory OR experience required. PACU experience is preferred.

Education/Experience:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing, College or University.
  • Current License/registration by NC as a registered Nurse.
  • At least two years’ experience in either perianesthesia (Preop/PACU) or perioperative (OR) nursing, preferred
  • BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications.
