The Area Manager is responsible for leading a team to achieve the highest level of safety, quality, performance, and engagement. Much of the position involves motivating, mentoring, and coaching. To achieve this, the Area Manager provides their associates with the tools they need for success as well as drive productivity and efficiency through data-driven decisions and analytical problem-solving. The person in this position needs to be comfortable with analytics and using data to provide thought-provoking and workable solutions. Area Managers typically volunteer to lead projects and help the team achieve goals.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team.
  • Build and execute productivity plans, review work forecasts, determine productivity requirements.
  • Communicate policies to crew members and act as the primary information source for the team, maintain compliance and consistency and take corrective action as needed.
  • Support safety programs and OSHA compliance to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Develop performance goals and objectives to achieve customer expectations while ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Partner with the management team to establish and maintain quality control standards.
  • Responsible for strategic shift and labor planning for department.
  • Proactively identify and lead process improvement initiatives and Lean tools.
  • Ensure procedures are followed for building security and product loss prevention.
  • Create, manage, and support recognition and communication programs.
  • Management of large numbers of warehouse staff with experience in hiring, training, motivating crew members, and resolving employee relations issues
  • TEAM concept and TEAMWORK are essential functions for this position
  • This position involves the planning, directing, and coordination of all warehouse activities
  • Must assign accountability with crew members to track and trend key performance indicators
  • Ability to develop and lead highly productive, quality focused teams
  • Supports and drives Crew Member First initiatives as part of the company core values


Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of management experience in all facets of outbound and inbound warehousing
  • Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Track record of taking ownership and driving results.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
