Empire Distributors Inc, A Leading Beverage Distributor is now hiring an Area Manager, Retail Wine. The Area Manager, Retail Wine Manages sales activities of the Retail Wine Division by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicates and monitors the Company’s objectives and expectations through staffing, training, and evaluations.
  • Understands and coaches the company philosophy of customer service.
  • Maintains and improves market conditions through Sales Representatives and District Managers in the execution of sales programs and the building of brands.
  • Supervises Sales Representatives' daily activities.
  • Monitors the utilization and effectiveness of point-of-sale in the market.
  • Delivers sales presentations to key clients in coordination with Sales Representatives.
  • Meets with key clients, assisting Sales Representatives with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals.
  • Monitors and evaluates the activities and products of the competition in relation to the Company’s presence in the market.
  • Maintains high visibility in key accounts and performs business reviews in these accounts on a quarterly basis.
  • Provides end-of-month results to the Sales Manager, Director and Vice President/General Manager, including, but not limited to, displays, placements, case sales and dollar sales.
  • Reports on focus items on a monthly basis and prepares monthly preplan calendar.
  • Processes monthly supplier incentive bill-backs and monthly payroll for Retail Wine Sales Representatives.
  • Assists Sales Manager in developing market sales goals, retailer deals and competitive pricing.
  • Monitors competitor pricing in the market.
  • Monitors and manages house wine programs.
  • Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control sales program.
  • Directs channel development activity and coordinates sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals.
  • Assists Sales Manager with assigning sales territory to Sales Representatives.
  • Coordinates liaison between sales department and other sales related units.
  • Monitors and evaluates the activities and products of the competition.
  • Communicates daily with the District Managers and assists in problem resolution.
  • Reviews District Managers' weekly itineraries.
  • Reviews daily reports from sales force.
  • Conducts bi-weekly sales meetings.
  • Helps with and coordinates General Sales Meetings.
  • Meets occasionally with suppliers to review sales goals.
  • Conducts business according to local and state laws.
  • Maintains open communication with other departments.
  • Continually maintains training and product knowledge.
  • Provides coverage in territories when Sales Representatives are absent.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages 3 District Managers who supervise several Sales Representatives in the Retail Wine Department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • TN ABC Wholesaler's Employee Permit
  • Valid Driver License
  • Automobile insurance - 100/300/50 minimum limits of liability
