Job Summary (Purpose):
The Manager has operational responsibility for assigned district location(s) within their Area with accountability for overall effectiveness as measured by their Area’s record on safety, the customer’s experience, operating KPI performance, while maintaining operational efficiencies through effective management of their staff and assets. The AM manages their multi-unit network of district operations by training, developing and motivating their employees to complete their daily tasks with minimal supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safety Management
    • Articulates a safety vision for his or her team; considers the impact on safety when making decisions
    • Is responsible for all aspects of safety within the assigned district locations, including compliance with safety codes and policies, the servicing and repair of company vehicles, ensuring customer installations and deliveries are safe and in accordance with state and federal regulations and achieving excellent scores in safety audits
    • Trains employees and monitors compliance safety policies and procedures; proactively coaches employees in all facets of safety performance including daily behaviors, accident avoidance and safety driving; consistently reinforces safety messages by conducting behavioral observations, safety briefings, “tailgate” meetings, and facility inspections.
  • Customer Experience
    • Works with each member of his/her team to ensure day-to-day operations support a high-quality customer experience with an eye toward streamlining the experience.
    • Proactively identifies problems that negatively impact the customer’s experience and partners with the Customer Experience Services team to resolve customer issues on a timely basis
    • Conduct priority customer visits to enhance relationships and conduct customer calls/visits to address issues.
  • Operational Efficiency
    • Utilizes all available tools to drive employee productivity while meeting or exceeding performance metrics for delivery and service.
    • Ensures procedures are followed to complete daily work accurately.
    • Reviews district performance reports and dashboards metrics; creates and updates reports as needed.
    • Responsible for timely permit management

Team Management

    • Plans, directs and manages staffing and development of employees by effectively communicating company strategic goals; conducts effective and timely performance appraisals; practices ongoing coaching to encourage optimal productivity and performance; ensures all required training for employees is completed.
    • Manages all aspects of timely and accurate payroll submissions.
    • Consistently updates staff on the critical performance areas of the Area.
    • Addresses employee HR issues as needed.
  • Asset Management
    • Responsible for the maintenance of company facilities, vehicles, tools, supplies and equipment. Manages the procurement of District equipment and supplies.
    • Manages timely inventory counts as required.
    • Responsible for propane supply management
    • Performs timely and accurate accounts payable approvals.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with code enforcement officials, regulatory personnel and permitting jurisdictions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret reporting documents relating to District performance, safety and technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Is able to read and understand contracts, leases, agreements for service, and vendor requirements.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Should be able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.

Education and Experience Required:

  • High school diploma required; college degree strongly preferred.
  • Five or more years’ experience in a management role. Experience in the propane industry is a plus.
  • Computer skills and Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required.
