We need strong leaders to guide our students today into teaching and education if we have any hope for our schools and communities to continue to strengthen in the future. At PDK International and Educators Rising, we believe we can lead from any seat. To this end we are looking for a dynamic and devoted education leader to guide Educators Rising’s Grow Your Own initiative in in the state from a strong initial start to a more mature sustainable program.
The Position
This position will serve New England state affiliates and report into the Educators Rising Programs Department at the PDK national office to guide the facilitation of programming, stakeholder outreach, and curriculum implementation throughout New England. The Educators Rising New England Area Coordinator will act as a liaison between the national office and state-level staff throughout New England states to support partnerships and ensure the smooth and professional execution of the program.
This is an exciting time for PDK’s Educators Rising, with growth in interest from districts and states on our “grow your own” educator pathway initiatives, our commitment to diversity in education, and our efforts to inspire middle school, high school, and collegiate preservice candidates into education careers. We need someone who can help us to scale the program while also being a hands-on team member getting in the weeds, getting the work done, and making a difference in the local community as well as providing a meaningful career path for students who may find this their calling.
Primary Duties
  • Liaise between Educators Rising state-level staff and the PDK national office to coordinate and implement common goals for success
  • Onboard regionally based staff through providing programmatic training and ensuring understanding of local context and policy
  • Coordinate expansion of partnerships with schools and districts to establish Educators Rising chapters that introduce high school students to the teaching profession
  • Identify and facilitate connections with potential revenue or fundraising sources so that PDK national can coordinate with said partners to keep district and student costs down
  • Work with the National Implementation General Manager to create and develop training guidance for curriculum implementation and serve as a trainer for other curriculum trainers
  • Facilitate professional learning for teacher leaders in states that don’t have appointed Educators Rising staff as they implement the Educators Rising standards through curriculum, competitions, and programming to support students in their journey to become meaningful and effective educators in their communities
  • Conduct Educators Rising Curriculum Trainings for teacher leaders at the district, state, regional, and national level as needed
  • Support data collection in tracking program structure and efficacy
  • Travel to local states and/or districts to support professional learning and outreach as needed
  • Attend the annual Educators Rising National Conference as a regional representative
  • Additional duties as needed or assigned
Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate would be located in the New England region.
  • Exceptional emotional intelligence, compassion, and self-awareness combined with strength of conviction, and “steel” in the face of adversity. Oh, and humor too.
  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred OR commensurate work experience
  • 3+ years of experience in K12 education
  • Experience in district administration or state education department administration a plus
  • Demonstrated understanding of school, district, and state education agency sales cycle, budget process, and purchasing process
  • Experience with the consultative communication process
  • A demonstrated ability to mediate discussions by recognizing underlying hesitations and overcoming concerns
  • Proven track record of excelling in a fast-paced work environment and managing time effectively.
  • Ability to execute but not be limited to linear thinking and a willingness to lead and innovate.
  • Confident, assertive, and goal oriented with ability to learn quickly and effectively apply learned processes into practice
  • Exceptional communicator – verbal and written
  • Experience with education technology including but not limited to learning management systems (LMS) and contact records management (CRM) preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive)
COMPENSATION
This is a contract position with PDK International for $40-50 per hour depending on experience, with approximately 20 hours of work each month (not including travel time), with commensurate compensation available upon proven success.
