Speaking of growth, our Cultural Resources team, which includes Secretary of the Interior qualified Archaeologists, Historians, Architectural Historians, Cultural Landscape Specialists, and Historic Preservation Specialists is currently seeking an early career Architectural Historian or Historic Preservation Specialist to work in a collaborative environment on complex environmental compliance projects.
Job Description
ICF seeks an early career Architectural Historian or Historic Preservation Specialist for our Austin, Texas, office. This position includes assisting with historical research, fieldwork, and report writing for built environment studies under the supervision of our cultural resources team managers. Projects are anticipated to focus on Transportation, Water, Energy, and Planning & Development markets.
What You Will Do
  • Assist with historical research in local, state, and regional libraries and archives.
  • Assist with historic resources surveys and assessments, including site inspections, research, photography, historic context writing, and evaluation under the National Register of Historic Places
  • Assist with the preparation of historic property inventory forms (including statements of significance and architectural descriptions)
  • Assist with preparing environmental documentation, including technical reports.
Basic Qualifications
  • Masters in Historic Preservation, History, or Architectural History or closely related field.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records check.
  • Must be willing to travel occasionally for fieldwork and meetings, with occasional overnight travel for up to 5 days.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated research and writing abilities, with the ability to present clear, precise, analytical, and authoritative arguments. A writing sample may be requested.
  • Ability to work as a team member in a fast-paced environment juggling multiple disciplines.
  • Operational knowledge of the history and architectural history of Texas and/or Oklahoma
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations, including NEPA, Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, and the Antiquities Codes of various states.
  • MS Office Suite.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is:
$43,697.00 - $74,285.00
