Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced transportation professional for immediate placement to establish, lead and manage a new Advanced Mobility Solutions group providing services in over 25 U.S. states in AECOM’s Greater West and West Coast Regions. Position opening is for Chicago, Illinois, Minneapolis, MN, Southfield, MI Columbus, OH or Denver CO but other office locations will be considered. This Advanced Mobility Solutions position will act as a leader for this technical practice area working closely with other transportation department leadership. The position will serve as an ambassador for advanced mobility planning and/or engineering services, support business development and growth, and help lead, manage, and coordinate smart mobility technology projects and staff. Project work could include Smart Cities programs, alternative transportation concepts, emerging technology, shared mobility, dynamic pricing systems, cooperative automated transportation programs, and a variety of advanced mobility solutions across all modes of transportation. Client services include program management, planning and/or design, staff augmentation, research, pilot deployment, evaluations and other.

Job Responsibilities
The candidate will need to be a forward-looking team player who can work collaboratively with others, including leadership and technical staff across multiple divisions, in a dynamic setting to support external thought leadership, brand development, client engagement and business development, project execution, and internal leadership. The ideal person must be able to verbally and visually communicate their ideas clearly and convincingly to peers, senior leadership, partners, and clients.

The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:

  • Routinely resolves difficult issues with significant financial impact
  • Provides primary consulting services to clients of various sizes
  • Interacts with senior government or public officials and/or executive level clients on significant program matters often requiring coordination between organizations
  • Assesses and manages risk on behalf of the client
  • Provides oversight and direction to AECOM PMs and other staff, client staff and subcontractors
  • Mentors deputy program managers
  • Requires project and client management experience including management of multiple projects of significant scope and complexity
  • Basic project management training and certification preferred

As the Advanced Mobility Solutions leader, they will be responsible for:

  • Developing a regional strategy and supporting growth of the advanced mobility practice in AECOM’s Greater West and West Coast regions
  • Creating, mentoring, and leading a resilient team of professionals forming a sustainable Advanced Mobility Solutions business group
  • Developing, expanding, and maintaining client relationships in coordination with state transportation business line leaders
  • Collaborating with client managers on targeted business development, project pursuits or work opportunities, creation of strategy, industry engagement, and targeted recruiting
  • Acting as external liaison and serving various local or regional roles for advanced mobility including but not limited to client interactions, program/project management, technical leader, expert advisor, partner relationship management, or quality control
  • Successfully leads pursuits of both traditional government RFPs as well as unsolicited proposals related to new smart mobility technologies including proposals to commercialize new technologies in transportation
  • Supervises, directs and manages other staff and project managers with multiple projects or program of projects
  • Maintaining and expanding local industry presence including actively participating in professional organizations
  • Supporting and actively participating in production of technical deliverables by the advanced mobility team ranging from program management, planning studies, engineering design, reports, memorandums, etc.
  • Supporting clients in identifying and applying for relevant grants to obtain funding
  • Identifying, establishing, and maintaining relationships with strategic partners in the ecosystem to drive growth and scale for the business
  • Leveraging their expertise to support expansion of business as a subject matter expert resource for regional, national, or global business and technical excellence in various smart mobility technology areas

Qualifications


Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS + 10 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in transportation planning or engineering and 15+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Planner
  • Experience in managing projects and a team of other transportation professionals
  • Established external industry reputation in smart mobility and transportation technology solutions
  • Active in professional and industry organizations
  • Experience working for, or selling to, public sector agencies with a preference toward clients in the smart mobility and emerging technology transportation sector
  • Knowledge, understanding and/or experience in advanced mobility solutions, smart cities, shared mobility, mobility-as-a-service, active transportation, smart parking, traffic engineering, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), road user charges, dynamic pricing, connected/automated/electric vehicles, data analytics, digital mobility platforms, Internet-of-Things (IoT), and other smart city related applications for highways, arterial roads, transit and other transportation modes
  • Experience in proposal development, grant applications, and other business development activities
  • Team-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate problems and solutions clearly and simply to clients, leadership, and technical staff
  • Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and research skills
  • Ability to balance various project responsibilities, budgets, and deadlines while maintaining professionalism and quality

Additional Information
    • Offered rate of compensation (Colorado locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $141,243.45 - $227,011.20.
