Definition:

The Admissions Manager / School Counselor manages the Counseling programs at Beacon Day School. The person in this position must have a working Knowledge of Beacon Day School and be well-versed in current educational and behavioral practices and methods. In conjunction with the administrative staff, this person leads, manages and evaluates the student enrollment process. Along with process management, the position provides creative oversight, in keeping the school’s mission, to draw, enroll and retain mission-appropriate students. This person must possess a thorough understanding and knowledge of Beacon Day School’s philosophy on working with students with Autism and related disorders.

In addition to managing admissions, this position is responsible for providing counseling services for our students that are in need of this service. A person in this position must have the proper credentials in order to offer guidance to the students that are dealing with issues that affect their mental health and well-being.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities of this class include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain a documented system of the admissions process;
  • Manage relationships with school districts and parents seeking enrollment into Beacon Day School;
  • Oversee the operations of the admissions department, including the design of a structure that is adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives;
  • Manage the person scheduling all tours, IEPs, and parent, district and advocate visits;
  • Maintain admissions statistics and evaluate to monitor effectiveness of the admissions process;
  • Work with Administration staff to develop marketing tools, events and advertising campaigns;
  • Develop necessary training;
  • Conduct home visits for perspective students
  • Provide individual and group tours of the campus;
  • Remain the contact person for parents, districts and advocates during the admissions process;
  • Work with students with behavioral issues in school;
  • Counsels students for the purpose of enhancing student success, academically, socially, and emotionally and emotionally;
  • Maintain appropriate documentation in regards to counseling;
  • Report and update CEO on counseling of students;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong organizational skills with a keen ability to prioritize and multi-task;
  • Ability to adhere to and meet deadlines;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Detail oriented;
  • Strong administrative and data management skills;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required;
  • Ability to compose and comprehend written and oral communication

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Master’s Degree with a LMFT or LCSW;
  • Must have PPS (Pupil Personnel Services) credential;
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience preferred;
  • 3-5 years of management experience preferred;
  • Knowledge of admissions operations administration is required

Physical Requirements

Work is performed under normal office or classroom conditions, but there are some minimal environmental risks or disagreeable conditions associated with the work. Employees must be physically and mentally able to perform the essential duties of a position with or without reasonable accommodation and without being a danger to themselves or others. Must meet all Pro-ACT standards and safety requirements (light duty is not available).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $75,000.00 per year

  • Admissioins: 1 year (Preferred)
  • School Counseling: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Mental Health Service: 3 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • PPS Credential (Required)
