We are looking for a skilled, detail oriented, professional whose customer service skills take it one step further, to join our State Unit on Aging team as an Administrator II. Reporting to the Director of Medicaid and Long-Term Care, the Administrator is responsible for the direction and leadership of the State Unit on Aging. This includes a team of 3 supervisors with 7 staff for a total of 10. Program funding is grant-based formula grants at the federal level and appropriations at the state level.

Hiring Rate: Starting pay rate $34.60/hour, increase to $36.33/hour after successful completion of original probation period

Examples of Work
The State Unit on Aging team is staffed with a congenial group of dedicated professionals. The team works primarily hybrid schedules with everyone in the office 1-5 days per week.

What you will do as an Administrator II:

  • Supervises a team of 10 (3 fiscal, 4 programmatic, including legal, 2 information technology, and 1 support)
  • Attends meetings with senior leadership in Medicaid and DHHS
  • Represents the Unit within the Department
  • Staffs the Aging Advisory Committee, governor appointees
  • Recruits, hires, and trains professional staff
  • Works with federal partners, other states, and tribal representatives
  • Oversees the budget, programming, and operation of the unit
  • Oversees procurement efforts for contracts, and subawards
  • Interpreting statutes and regulations
  • Writing regulations
  • Drafting legislation
  • Public speaking and presentations
  • Signs subawards and contracts for the unit.
  • Approves reimbursements to subrecipients.
  • Establish and maintain internal and external partnerships
  • Oversee complex integrated programs delivered through a wide variety of delivery channels
Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in public administration, social work, human development, public health, behavioral science, law, finance, human resources or other program related field AND four years of experience in a field related to the assigned program area including supervisory experience; OR a Master’s degree in any of the above mentioned fields and two years commensurate experience. Equivalent experience or coursework/training may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

PREFERRED: Gerontological education and practical experience. Five years of executive program management, monitoring, and leading organizational-level projects.
Experience with Microsoft Office suite, OnBase, Workfront, SharePoint, Survey Monkey, PeerPlace, and JDEdwards.

OTHER: Hybrid in-office and remote work schedule possible after successful completion of original probation - generally after the first six months of employment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of: Accounting practices, program management, training techniques, staff development, needs assessment, and planning.

Ability to/Skill in: Strategic Planning and Evaluation, long-range planning, policy evaluation, impact analysis on a local and large scale.
