The Shaw Temple A.M.E. Zion Church Administrator is a pivotal role and provides vital administrative ministry for the realization of Shaw Temple’s mission of “Inviting all people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.” We accomplish this through four components: Worship, Witness, Work and Wonders. The Church Administrator is the hub in the middle of our church operations. This position is a “first face ministry” and provides essential support and direction for visitors, boards, ministries and staff. The individual also coordinates the daily activities and is responsible for managing the church and VAST (volunteers).

Essential Responsibilities:

Administrative support and scheduling for all church activities. Coordinate church usage. “First Face” of interaction with persons seeking to utilize the church for weddings, funerals and various programs.

Act as Record Clerk for maintaining membership records and vital membership information (such as transfer, membership, birthdays, anniversaries etc.) along with the Minister for Congregational Care maintain and update the church’s administrative system: Church Community Builder (CCB).

Essential Requirements:

This position requires that you have saving faith in Jesus Christ. You will want to demonstrate that you have a growing personal relationship with Jesus.

  • Impeccable communication skills (written and verbal)
  • The ability to be trusted with confidential information.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office proficient) and have the ability to operate office equipment off site and in person.
  • The ability to problem-solve and work in a fast paced, ever-changing work environment.
  • Be a diligent self-starter and team player.
  • Manage event signups.
  • Have a pleasant voice and engaging demeanor.
  • Create documents and spreadsheets for reporting / tracking data, organize and file documents and keep accurate record of minutes from various ministry meetings.
  • Work with the Trustee Chairman in room/event assignments and needs.
  • Work with Media Coordinator in disseminating various publications.

Salary/ Wages

Compensation is negotiable and will be determined with respect to a candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20,000.00 - $30,000.00 per year
