Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources strives to maintain healthy populations of fish and wildlife across the state. The employees of Kentucky Fish and Wildlife are passionate about the resource they manage. The Information and Education Division of Kentucky Fish and Wildlife is currently seeking a reliable administrative specialist to execute administrative functions for the Division’s Director’s Office.

Responsibilities and job duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Prepares monthly reports for the division, including but not limited to management of the vehicle fleet and budget documentation. Provides a summary of data for the Division Director.
  • Responsible for the complex organization of personnel actions for the interim summer conservation camp employees.
  • Interprets department policies to division employees and ensures correct submission of documents, such as: travel vouchers, uniform orders, printing, contracts. Enters information into EMARS.
  • Custodian of division purchasing card. Responsible for the procurement of division supplies and informs division employees of proper procurement policies.
  • Prepares reports and correspondences for the Division Director.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Preferred skills may include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Highly organized.
  • Collaborate well with others.
  • Knowledge and experience with working with EMARS.
  • Experience with Excel.
  • Experience with Access.
  • Frequently communicate in person or by other means of technology.
  • Spends a major portion of time using computer.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
