We are seeking Administrative Agents for our Juneau maritime agency. The Administrative Agent is assigned a set of cruise ships for the duration of the cruise ship season. An Agent in a maritime vessel agency works as the liaison between ship and shore. Agents ensure the local in port needs of the ship are well executed. The ideal candidate for this position will have the aptitude to become a customer service guru with an eye for detail and foresight in logistical challenges. An Administrative Agent will work extensively in a fast-paced office setting and will include brief visits with ship officials on arrivals. This role includes extensive communication and coordination among the ship officers/crew, local vendors, local officials as well as other agency personnel and management. The goal of this position will be to ensure the needs of the vessel are met before, during and after their call to Juneau.
Responsibilities:
  • Ensure assigned cruise ships have effective coordination and execution of port services such as: dock amenities, shoreside labor, procurement, transportation, regulatory, medical and other services while in Juneau.
  • Coordinate daily tasks through our agency’s Dispatcher, Lead Agent, Operations Manager, assigned Expeditor(s) and the Administrative Manager.
  • Maintain a concise record of the relevant port call activities including operational particulars, information and requests, federal documentation, accruals and expenditures
  • Apply port call information to appropriate voyage accounting and recordkeeping processes.
  • Communicate with federal, state, and local officials as needed for changes, updates and reporting requirements.
  • Resolve special operational challenges on behalf of the cruise line and coordinate the response or service.

  • Effective written and oral communication
  • Detail oriented in clerical activities including data entry
  • Must be a team player
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite products and familiarity with cloud computing
Requirements:
  • Be able to pass a criminal background check and be bondable
  • Be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school graduate or equivalent level of education
  • Some Customer Service experience
  • Have a valid driver’s license and transportation to/from work
Compensation:
  • Starting at $20/hr with some overtime possible
  • Bonus upon successful completion of the season
Schedule:
  • Seasonal full-time position (4-6 days per week, may include weekend days)
  • Some overtime possible
Relocation, Housing & Transportation are the responsibility of the employee.
