Job Description:
Southwest Community College invites applications for an adjunct faculty position in the Humanities and Social Sciences Division to teach Human Services. The College seeks faculty who will adapt to a variety of teaching situations, can use technology to teach effectively, and will work effectively with students, staff, and others in a climate that promotes cultural diversity and student success.
Instructors will be responsible for teaching Human Services courses.
Other responsibilities include participation in the following: achievement of the College's mission and goals; upholding the College's values; and personal and program evaluation.
Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.
- Master’s Degree is required, with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the specific discipline. Official transcripts may be required.
- Prior experience in a human services, counseling, or related field.
- Excellent oral and written skills.
- Ability to work effectively with populations representing diverse ages, backgrounds, life experiences, and abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with students and staff of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Competence to teach courses with multicultural perspectives in a community college setting with a focus on student learning.
- Experience with the use of online course management systems, i.e. Canvas
- Ability to impart excitement and enthusiasm into teaching.
- Ability to adapt to a variety of teaching situations, including a wide range of student preparedness and characteristics.
