Job Summary

This position affords an immediate opportunity to apply analytical, problem-solving, communication and technology skills that will contribute to the development of solutions to challenging client issues in a professional environment. Actuarial Analysts work independently as well as with a team to deliver consulting services to a broad and diverse range of defined benefit pension clients. Analysts are encouraged to engage in continual learning and development activities with the goal to advance to higher level positions and are supported in pursuing progress toward actuarial accreditation through a competitive exam program and policy. Convenient Peninsula location.

Hybrid Work Environment

Eligible to work-from-home up to 40%, if desired. Must reside within commutable distance from NWPS Office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform valuation services for pension and post-retirement medical plans
  • Assist in preparing key findings to clients
  • Perform project tasks with supervision and guidance
  • Participate in the development of deliverable content that meets the needs of the client
  • Collaborate with others to develop/improve data, systems and project management
  • Prepare deliverables with accuracy and quality
  • Continued progress in actuarial track towards obtaining FSA, ASA, and/or EA designations
  • Manage own personal and professional development; seek opportunities for professional growth and expansion of consulting skills and experiences

Qualifications


Knowledge of

  • Functional, operational and technical requirements of assigned project(s)
  • Concepts of actuarial science, mathematics, statistics and business
  • The use of technology in business
  • Core business competencies such as finance, management, accounting, operations, and marketing
  • More detailed awareness of the business context of a technical solution, including specific business goals associated with the project, how the project will meet the goals, and their own part in advancing the goals

Skill in

  • Demonstrated success managing projects with minimal supervision

Ability to

  • Effectively communicate with others outside of the actuarial team including presenting findings, both written and oral
  • Research, perform data analysis and problem-solve complex and diverse problems.
  • Work independently
  • Possess a natural curiosity about actuarial topics and the underlying data driving changes

Education/Previous Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or other business-related field
  • Internship experience in actuarial field preferred
  • Society of Actuaries Exam P and/or FM passed preferred

Licenses/Certifications

  • Continued progress in actuarial track towards obtaining FSA, ASA and/or EA designations
