IS CREATIVITY YOUR PASSION? We are looking for an Activity Assistant for our Skilled Nursing Facility community. The Activity Assistant organizes and implements programs designed to meet the individual needs of our residents. Our program touches upon the six key dimensions psychological, intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs while promoting self-esteem in a caring, nurturing environment. The Activity Assistant supports and assists in all necessary programming.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists in the development and implementation of personalized programming
• Leads and implements 1:1, small group, and large group activities
• Support, encourage and direct independent activity pursuits, both individually as well as small/large group settings
• Support the residents' abilities by understanding all aspects of care
• Demonstrates knowledge about residents regarding background, participation needs, physical abilities, interests, cognitive capacity, and attention span capability

EDUCATION AND SKILLS REQUIRED

• Must have a high school diploma, bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and knowledge of aging and disability issues. Must be qualified by experience and training to develop programs appropriate for elders and disabled individuals.
• Possesses training and knowledge in recreational activities
• Possesses training and knowledge of Alzheimer’s and related dementias
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and the community
• Shows a consistent ability to coordinate multiple tasks, demonstrates a cheerful outlook, and works well under pressure
• Has a positive, uplifting, and energetic persona
• Able to adapt quickly in new situations
• Attention to detail and keen observation
• Have a compassionate and care giving attitude
