Iris Memory Care of Tulsa is looking for an activities/life enrichment assistant. This position is responsible for engaging our residents in leisure activities that are of interest to them! Our residents need assistance to socialize, complete crafts, dance, sing, cook recipes, garden, accompany on excursions, and to be involved in and complete life enriching activities both that are scheduled monthly and some that are impromptu. This is an incredibly fun, rewarding, and important job for the right person!!


We are a small, freestanding memory care assisted living licensed for 54 residents located off of Creek Turnpike at 101st and Mingo. As a community focused on memory care, all of our residents are coping with Alzheimer's or other form of dementia. We are an age-in-place community, so you will care for residents all throughout the spectrum of the disease.


Rate of pay starts at $15 per hour, based on experience. Benefits available include:

Job Qualifications:

  • Two years experience in a social or recreational program within the last five years is preferred, and/or has completed an activity director training course. Meets the state license/certification requirements as required by state regulatory agency.
  • Twelve (12) plus years of education preferred.
  • Meet continuing education requirements and certifications on job classification and position, including state requirements.
  • Ability to communicate and work with all levels of IRIS Team Members and IRIS Department Managers effectively.
  • Maintains acceptable attendance record/follows work schedule.
  • Organizes and utilizes time appropriately toward accomplishing assigned tasks; requires minimal supervision.
  • Displays cleanliness, good grooming, and personal appearance, and follows dress requirements consistently.
  • Displays ability/willingness to learn new skills and to teach others.
  • Ability to recognize and communicate problems appropriately.
  • Ability to relate to the public, Residents, families, IRIS Team Members, and other professionals appropriately.
  • Ability/willingness to follow policy and procedures and state regulations.
  • Ability to communicate proficiently in English, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet requirements of the job and be on call.
  • Is neat, accurate, and dependable and keeps work space clean.
  • Provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
  • Ability to recognize and communicate problems appropriately.
  • Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergencies.
  • Displays willingness to assist co-workers when situation requires.
  • Ability to transfer residents (if allowed by state regulations).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally; 35 pounds regularly.
  • Routinely requires pushing, pulling, bending, walking, reaching, and stooping.
  • Maintains car in good working order, current drivers license in good standing, and auto insurance meeting company minimums is current.
  • Ability to organize their time, follow-up with the ability to perform job tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to teach/train others effectively.
  • Demonstrates management skills in supervising staff.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
  • Demonstrates as a team player with a positive attitude; able to work with IRIS Team Members and IRIS ownership/management staff.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and provide information as requested and required.
