BROAD FUNCTION:

Deliver direct behavioral health services to adults, families, and couples with co-occurring substance abuse and mental health conditions in congruence with values and principles established by TBH and be part of reaching strategic mission of being the leader of treatment of chronic behavioral health services for couples in recovery by 2030.

The Associate Psychotherapist will be a part of the integrative care team comprised of addictionologist, psychiatrist, nurse, and substance use disorder (SUD) counselor. Associate Psychotherapist co-managing a client's identified mental health and substance use disorder issues that may speak to both medical and SUD symptomatology and/or identified major psychiatric disorders that warrant psychotherapy services. The Associate Psychotherapist will triage those clients with major psychiatric disorders that remain unstable and will make a referral to the local community service for emergency services or higher level of care treatment.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES 90% OF TIME:

Associate Psychotherapist completes and/or supervises that all assigned tasks from the treatment milieu are adhered to, which include the following:

1. Crisis Intervention – Be immediately available to TBH staff during working hours to provide 5150 assessments/ intervention and completes notes end of shift or as required by TBH policy and procedures.

2. Providing individual, couple, family therapy once a week or as needed, and group therapy according to schedule or as medically necessary by current level of care and completes notes according to TBH policy and procedures guidelines;

3. Able to retain clients as medically necessary at appropriate level of care, and have high client satisfaction score.

4. Provides direct reports such as weekly clinical updates to utilization review team on a weekly basis or as needed.

5. Monitors the outcomes (PCL-5, BDI-II, BAI, etc.,) for clients in accordance with established benchmarks.

6. Medication adherence counseling and co-occurring management therapy; Substance use/abuse evaluation, identification of impairments in functioning and development of harm reduction strategies utilizing MAT evaluations and CBT, DBT, Trauma/Seeking Safety, Crisis Therapy, and couple and family psychotherapy skills, as needed.

7. Level of care form and discharge summaries are completed within 24-48hrs of client discharged or change of level of care;

8. Completing biopsychosocial assessments before completion of shift and ensure client meets medical necessity for PHP/IOP or OP for SUD or MH services;

9. Completes treatment plans #5-6 and/or complete or coordinate #1-4 with SUD counselor to be completed within 24hrs of completion of biopsychosocial assessment;

10. Maintaining a case load of minimum of 10-12 clients at any given time and meets individually weekly or as needed.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES 5 % OF TIME:

  • Family psychoeducation and/or therapy for DBT-clients, only if deemed appropriate by clinical supervisor.
  • Coordinating with SUD counselor and nurse to meet all other needs presented in biopsychosocial assessment;
  • Maintains the clinical file for assigned client to include the following: assurance that written assessments are completed within assigned time frame and using the approved instruments; preparation and presentation of treatment plans and reviews within required time frames; documentation of services and response to treatment to include timely completion of all required encounters.
  • Participates in daily huddles & weekly planning and clinical case conferences with TBH staff.
  • Maintain clients files up to date, per agency and contracting agency requirements
  • Completes quality assurance reviews of charts and completes corrective plans according to TBH guidelines.
  • Adheres to TBH policy and procedures, DHCS, Joint Commission, mandated reporting guidelines, regulations and 42CFR and 45 CFR confidentiality guidelines, and established legal and ethical codes of the BBS.
  • Read one book per month as assigned by Executive Director or COO and complete 1 page book report.
  • Performs other duties as requested or assigned, verbally or in writing.
  • Assures that program complies with Drug Free requirements;

DIRECTION/SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

  • ASW/AMFT/APCC will be supervised by licensed Clinician

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Master's degree in social work, counseling, or related field, with a minimum of two years clinical experience and holds a current California Associate clinical social work, Associate marriage family therapist, and/ associate professional clinical counselor in good standing with Board of Behavioral Science.

Experience: Competency in providing CBT, DBT, Couples Behavioral Therapy for couples, Sound House Marital Therapy and/or Emotional Focus to individuals, families, couples, and groups with identified behavioral health/substance abuse problems in a SUD/MH treatment setting. A minimum of 1-year clinical experience in related field (SUD/MH).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to conduct addictions therapy and couples therapy.
  • Ability to provide evidence base measures and outcomes.
  • Knowledge of structured interviewing for completing rating scales, diagnostic interviews, mental status examinations.
  • Ability to manage data sets to monitor for performance and to identify and act on opportunities for improvement.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Employees are required to talk or hear while on duty and frequently required to stand and walk. Often, the employee is required to sit and use a computer and/or reach with hands and arms.

SALARY:$30.00 - $35.00 per hour

1 year or less than 2 years experience start $30.00 per hour.

2 years experience start $32.00 -$35.00 per hour

3-5 years experience start at $33.00-$35.00 per hour.

COVID-19 considerations:
Masks are required at all times and are worn by both staff and clients. Some flexibility to do some work from home is available for this position, but primarily in person. TBH follows all CDC and local guidelines.
