Accounts Payable Lead

Essential Functions:

• Oversees the processing and verification of invoices, coding of expenses, preparation of vouchers, and issuance of checks for payment
• Be responsible for full cycle Accounts Payable processing, including the input/coding of vendor invoices, employee expense reimbursements, weekly check runs, and ACH/Wire activity
• Accrue and remit sales tax through periodic state sales and use tax returns in a multi-state environment for multiple companies. Apply for sales & use tax numbers as needed.
• Plans, schedules, and directs work of the accounts payable department within the established accounting policies of the organization
• Responsible for 1099 processing
• Assist in the development of the AP Policy and Procedure manual. Make recommendations and changes to these policies to better fit our organization
• Code and enter P-Card transactions
• Have working knowledge of all AP functions with the ability to perform them if assigned staff is out of the office
• Assist AP personnel to answer questions and solve problems concerning department policies and procedures
• Work on other projects and presentations as required
• Research and correct any account discrepancies
• Complete other responsibilities as assigned
  

Qualifications:

• Must have a Bachelor's Degree in accounting or related discipline or 3 years of government contracting experience in lieu of a degree
• At least 3+ years of accounting/finance experience preferred with a heavy emphasis on accounts payable and support of all accounts payable related functions in government contracting.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
• Deltek, Unanet, or other ERP systems experience required
• Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) experience required
• Familiarity with GAAP; DFAR a plus
• Must be detail oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work individually and with other team members with minimum supervision
• U.S. Citizenship required.
