JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Accounting Technician, Payroll FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Family: Finance Pay Range: 17

Pay Program: Classified Work Calendar: 248 days

SUMMARY: Responsible for the support and verification of a timely payroll for all District employees.

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This position requires in-office attendance. To perform this

1. Maintain communication between Human Resources and Payroll. Maintain correspondence D 28% and payroll records. Respond to inquiries from district personnel regarding complex payroll matters. Follow procedures and precedents, make appropriate decisions.

2. Correspond with District personnel in completion of duties. Train and support the District D 15% time keepers who submit payroll records. Respond to questions regarding entries made to time keeping system.

3. Maintain changes and corrections to employee tax withholding; Tax Shelter Annuity’s and D 15% direct deposits. Work with employees when direct deposits are returned.

4. Complete and submit various forms related to payroll records including PERA six-month D 5% salary, PERA refund requests and verification of employment PERA inquiries.

5. Back up payroll manager and payroll specialist. D 2%

6. Edit and Review time-clock import and manually enter timecards as applicable. D 15%

7. Perform final review of payroll data related to salary, blended overtime rate, pay docks, and M 10% enter corrections. Process monthly payroll per procedures.

8. Perform other duties as assigned. Ongoing 10%

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma, completion of G.E.D., or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in accounting preferred.
  • Over one year and up to and including three years of experience in bookkeeping, general accounting and payroll experience. Prefer experience with government accounting including school accounting.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Criminal background check required for hire.
