Job Description
The aligned Business Office of Anoka-Ramsey Community College (ARCC) and Anoka Technical College (ATC) is dedicated to providing exceptional assistance to students with the necessary services to fulfill their financial obligations to the Colleges while maintaining the College’s commitment to an affordable education. These services are provided in accordance with the policies and procedures of Minnesota State to ensure sound fiscal responsibility. The Business Office provides superior customer service to students, staff, faculty, departments, and outside constituents with a focus on accuracy, accountability, availability, efficiency, professionalism, and integrity.
This Accounting Technician is the lead accounts receivable specialist for both Anoka Technical College and Anoka-Ramsey Community College. Under limited supervision/procedural control this position performs a combination of clerical and bookkeeping duties related to the processing of cash, checks and other revenue for the Business Office. This includes making deposits and recording transactions into the college financial accounting module. This position will inform college clientele of registration and financial aid information according to policies, practices, and principles related to business office, student records, registration, financial aid, and data privacy in accordance with federal and state laws and college policies. This position initiates collection procedures according to Minnesota statutes, rules, and regulations.

Required Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) sufficient to analyze, interpret, and prepare financial information, records and reports; locate errors; and recommend solutions to procedural or other fiscal problems.
  • Knowledge of the Statewide Integrated Financial Tools (SWIFT) or other private or governmental accounting system, sufficient to query and compile records and reports, and assist with preparation and maintenance of spending plans, financial status reports and budget requests.
  • Working knowledge of electronic spreadsheets, word processing software, computers and other office equipment such as calculators to input and access information and create documents.
  • Mathematics skills sufficient to calculate, review and reconcile data and balance accounts.
  • Ability to design, interpret and explain work procedures and operations and provide advice on fiscal policies and procedures.
  • Ability to read and write a variety of materials in English.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals in a diverse multicultural and multiracial community.
  • Ability to comprehend and implement policies, procedures, and Minnesota State requirements for handling and depositing state funds.
  • Ability to gain a thorough understanding of the MinnState accounting system.
  • Ability to communicate with customers to effectively explain policies and procedures and resolve complaints in a courteous manner.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain budget, inventory, procurement, and other record systems to ensure accuracy of data and compliance with policies.
