This position, part of the Finance & Accounting division, is located in the Banking & Merchant Services department. The incumbent will act as a subject matter expert for Banking & Merchant Services business processes, ensuring efficient and effective processes, identifying solutions, and coordinating with UFIT and third-party vendors in response to technology needs or enhancements. The successful candidate must possess excellent analytical, research, problem-solving and communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to effectively maintain open communication channels with all stakeholders. This position will support enterprise-wide units as well as end users with complex issues, participate or lead special projects as assigned, and evaluate information to identify opportunities or potential areas for improvements.

The duties of the position include:

Assists in coordinating the establishment of new departmental credit card merchants. Responsible for ordering, programming, testing, and troubleshooting equipment related to such activity. Functions as liaison between Banking & Merchant Services, enterprise-wide merchants, and the credit card processors by resolving specific administrative, technical, and fiscal problems and providing customer service regarding e-commerce, third party payment gateways, and terminals. Maintains the merchant and inventory databases and updates merchant information as needed.

Coordinates the annual PCI DSS compliance assessment with enterprise-wide units. Monitors the compliance status of all third-party vendors with the PCI DSS, maintains documentation relative to compliance, and follows-up with all impacted stakeholders regularly to verify continued compliance. Functions as liaison of Banking and Merchant Services to UFIT and UFIT Security regarding credit card and ecommerce activity. Assists UF IT in addressing any vulnerabilities in the cardholder environment and recommends adjustments as needed.

Processes credit card refunds on web portals of service providers regarding the university’s credit card transactions including students’ online tuition payments. Assists with handling credit card disputes and chargebacks. Participates in the design and development of training for departments regarding university regulations and the dissemination of UF Payment Card policies, standards, and guidelines. Reviews and recommends updates for the UF Payment card website.

Performs departmental visits to discuss cardholder environment and assists with the remediation of any deviations from UF Payment Card Policies and Standards, including issues pertaining to the PCI DSS.

Review monthly fee activity and prepare invoice for payment. Coordinate annual purchase orders, contract renewal, etc. with third party vendors.



Expected Salary:

$45,000 - $55,000 annually; commensurate with education and experience.



Minimum Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of appropriate experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.



Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preference given to experience in higher education environment.
  • Knowledge of banking procedures and/or practices for receiving, depositing, and disbursing cash.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) and the relevant compliance programs and frameworks associated with these standards.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and interacting with payment card merchants.
  • Demonstrated experience with e-commerce, third party payment gateways, merchant account processes, and acquiring banks.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as team member.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse decentralized customers and constituents.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Teams, Word, and Excel.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with spreadsheet, database, query and other analytical tools.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
