SALARY SCHEDULE: Accounting Clerk/Treasurer’s Clerk (NCTC)


DEPARTMENT: FINANCE


FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT


SAFETY-SENSITIVE: NO


POSITION SUMMARY:
Support finance operations by maintaining the general ledger, aid in the preparation of monthly and year-end
financial reports, reconcile bank statements, print and void checks, and assist in 1099 reporting. This position will
also provide support for the financial accounting software end users.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required; Associates degree preferred
  • At least two years of related experience preferred.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Understanding of journal entries
  • Ability to read and understand school law, documents, policies, and procedures.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. Reconcile bank statements and prepare the Board report including end of the fiscal year balancing of
financial information.


2. Provide support for financial accounting software applications to staff and vendors while maintaining
system permission for end users in the financial accounting software.


3. Print and void checks and other reports as required.


4. Assist with the preparation and electronic filing of form 1099 for vendors at the end of the calendar year.


5. Review and revise OCAS coding on employee records as changes occur and assist with coding the State
Personnel Report/Accreditation.


6. Assist with maintaining fixed assets by adding, retiring and updating the fixed assets system.


7. Assist with implementing and maintaining new financial software such as an online pay system.


8. Enter and maintain revenue receipts for school activity fund accounts.


9. Prepare and post journal entries as needed to the general ledger.


10. Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above.


LANGUAGE AND GRAMMAR SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.


REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fume or airborne particles. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, extreme cold (including outdoors), extreme heat (including direct sunlight), risk of electrical shock and vibration.


The noise level in the work environment will vary from somewhat loud to extremely loud.


To ensure continuity of services, a different work location may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee’s eligibility for a varied work location will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for this change will be distributed by the employee’s supervisor, based on his/her role and responsibilities.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Employee may occasionally be required to supervise a varying number of employees in the overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned.
