Job description
The Staff Accountant is an integral part of the Finance Department. Reporting to the Assistant Controller and Controller, the Staff Accountant is directly responsible for performing General Accounting functions of the hospital. Specifically, this position will participate in the month end close, prepare journal entries, prepare meaningful account reconciliations, maintain escheat, monthly cost accounting, perform financial analysis and internal and external reporting, maintain department files and retention, and other projects as needed. In addition, position will participate in the semiannual physical inventories, document processes in the department, prepare cost report and budget schedules, tax package and AHA/TDH survey schedules, and acts as full accounts payable and payroll backup, as assigned.Supervise accounts payable function and staff, as assigned. Demonstrates a service-oriented approach to inquiries and problem solving situations. Dedicated to adhere to Tenet, hospital and government policies and procedures. Safely manages the environment of care.
Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned. Exercises tact and diplomacy in all actions. Supports Assistant Controller and Controller in all aspects of the Finance department functions. Responsible for the timely completion of all deadlines.
