Accountant - Accounting

HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake is a full-service hospital offering a 531 bed inpatient and outpatient medical, surgical and specialty services. The campus includes Level II trauma capabilities, a Neuroscience Institute, The Heart & Vascular Hospital, a bariatrics program, the Breast Diagnostic Center, a wound care center, a level III Neonatal ICU, and the area’s only pediatric emergency department and pediatric ICU.

HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare, part of the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. The division is a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilities include: 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 13 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center.

What you will do in this role:


  • Under the supervision of the VP of Finance, responsible and held accountable for all activities related to Accounts Payable to include directing and coordinating all system accounts payable activities.

  • Demonstrates skill and accuracy for maintaining the Accounts Payable (A/P) accounts.

  • Reviews all invoices and expense reports before processing for appropriate account coding, descriptions, and signature of approval and/or approvals.

  • Mandatory compliance with the Hospital & Supply Chain Processing Regulations.

  • Logs invoices and expense reports daily.

  • Sorts mail and distributes invoices to directors for signature of approvals.

  • Processes invoices in a timely manner.

  • Assists the Assistant Controller with month end close by providing copies of all month end invoices to be accrued which missed the Supply Chain deadline for submission.

  • Distributes payroll checks as necessary on payroll Fridays.

  • Assists with the annual hospital inventory.

  • Assists the VP of Finance and the Assistant Controller during the Cost Reporting Period and Budget with clerical and other duties as assigned.

  • Reconciles general ledger accounts as assigned.

  • Recognizes the importance of prioritizing the vendor/ customer as number one.

  • Fulfills the duty and responsibility to maintain competence and to continue personal and professional growth.

  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, administrators, and others to meet the needs of the customers we serve and to uphold the positive image of the hospital.

  • Demonstrates ability to fulfill requirements of attendance, punctuality, and timekeeping practices.

  • Behaviors and interactions demonstrate a positive attitude, personal initiative and motivation to achieve the goals of the Accounting Department.


What qualifications you will need:


  • BS or BBA in Accounting

  • At least one (1) year general accounting experience with emphasis in processing accounts payable.

  • Accounts Payable and reconciliation experience preferred.
