Account Manager

REPORTS TO: Strategic Market Development Manager STATUS: Exempt

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

Develop and grow direct agricultural input sales with a marketing and financial strategies approach in assigned territory that achieves sales goals. Manage and maintain good relationships between customers and vendors to always ensure a positive brand image. Produce sound product knowledge and a keen eye for marketing opportunities in new markets.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • On-farm sales calls to secure sales to accomplish goals and objectives set by the company.
  • Develops marketing plans and generate sales in new markets that enhance company sales and image.
  • Conduct product and market research to keep current with economic indicators, changing trends, supply and demand, and competitors to maintain sales volume, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with management to develop new marketing techniques, products, and policies.
  • Recommend service and product enhancement to improve the sales potential and customer satisfaction.
  • Meet with customers to discuss their evolving needs and to assess the quality of the company’s relationship with them.
  • Ensures customers’ creditworthiness and terms and prepares sales quotes and contracts.
  • Organize and communicate orders to the operations team in Kirksville and assist with scheduling deliveries.
  • Assist management with company budget and product forecasting with all distributors.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Know and understand supply chain management
  • Knowledge of product concerns as it relates to state, federal, or other regulations for storage, use, transportation, etc. Especially hazardous material safety.
  • Implement control procedures and documentation related to inventory transactions.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance distribution activities. Meet the rules, policies, and laws that govern transportation and distribution activities.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Educations and Experience

  • Normally requires a bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or the equivalent thereof, and/or prior work experience to demonstrate knowledge of basic spreadsheet functions and computer systems and programs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of, or related work experience in, production agriculture or sales is preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all applicable training, permits, and certifications, including a CDL.

Functional Competencies

  • Proven professional communication and exceptional customer service skills and the ability to comprehend simple instructions and communicate one-on-one and in small groups with customers and other employees.
  • Demonstrated time management and basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, along with the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Proven ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment in a professional manner.
  • Understanding of basic computer skills as they relate to business.

Other Requirements

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Continuously exposed or required to:
  • Extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, etc.)

hazards with appropriate safety measures

▪ Work at varying heights

▪ Confined spaces

▪ Lift 50-100 lbs.

▪ Required to push heavy objects

  • Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
  • Ability to work hours other than those considered normal to meet seasonal demands.
