Job Description
The Academic Administrator provides administrative and operational support for the Political Science department. Working with another administrative staff member in the office, the administrator supports the chair person, and the teaching needs of the departmental faculty members and student inquiries. Specific responsibilities include managing the budget and accounts payable; supervising work study students; coordinating the hiring process for new faculty; planning, publicizing, and overseeing department events; preparing materials for department meetings, taking meeting minutes, assist with curriculum planning and course scheduling. Also provides support for the Wellesley in Washington Wintersession course and other special projects as needed. Schedule: 28 hours per week (Tuesday-Friday), 10 months.
Primary Position Responsibilities

Basic Qualifications
  • Some college or equivalent 3+ years’ office experience
Skills and Abilities
Strong computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Apps are required, along with capacity and desire to acquire new computer skills as new systems are implemented. Familiarity with Workday is a plus. Candidates must have an eye for detail, excellent interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills, as well as strong oral and written communication skills. Must be able to respond to varied demands and manage multiple long and short term projects simultaneously. The ability to work collaboratively and work effectively in a culturally diverse environment is a must.
