Description: We provide instruction in ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, Music, Art, Physical and Social Emotional Education Learning in a public accredited charter school. Our teaching staff is composed of Florida Certified teachers who are dedicated to our schools and the students they teach. Reading and ESOL Endorsements are encouraged

School Philosophy: The vision and purpose of Reading edge Academy, Inc is to ensure that all enrolled students will begin their school careers with success, confidence and a firm foundation in all core subjects, with a particular emphasis on reading and math concepts. The Governing board and administrators of the Academies base the curriculum and other activities of the school on the finding that, although success in the early grades does not guarantee success throughout school life, the lack of success in the early grades does, most certainly, guarantee lack of success in later schooling. The program is based on the following key developmental hurdles young children must face:

a. The development of cognitive, linguistic, social and psychological basis on which success depends;

b. A firm foundation in pre-reading and early language skills in preschool including kindergarten;

c. The need for children to make enough progress so they enter fourth grade able to read for content knowledge.

The purpose of instruction in our charter schools is to educate the total person in an environment in which each individual is recognized and respected in which moral values and academic excellence are central. To create this environment, the faculty and staff promote and proclaim moral values they teach and uphold. Our schools strive to develop each child’s potential through programs that aim to meet the individual needs of students.

Our students learn to give back to the community by undertaking fundraising for Heart, Cancer, Leukemia Societies and other various charities and we hold food drives for a local food bank. Our schools also have PTA fundraisers which enhance our technology needs in each classroom. Our schools are small but mighty. Reading Edge Academy is located on the west side of Volusia County and located in Debary, Florida. It was the very first public Charter school in Volusia County and was established in 1998. Samsula Academy was established in 2008 and is located outside of New Smyrna Beach on the East side of the County. There has been a public school in this location since 1912.
