*SUMMARY*
**
The Women, Peace, & Security (WPS) Consultant will coordinate with the WPS Policy Advisor to manage the network portfolio and assist in the establishment of global WPS Centers of Excellence.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
**

  • Provide expertise related to consultations and implementation of WPS National Action Plans (NAPs) with partner countries as it relates to the WPS-FPN priorities and deliverables. The WPS Consultant’s expertise will be used to ensure coordination of WPS principles as part of S/GWI and the Department’s efforts related to best practices for WPS implementation and partnerships.
  • Draft and update WPS-Focal Points Network (WPS-FPN) related invitations, technical learning sessions on WPS, and provide direction based on expertise with the WPS-FPN.
  • Provides support for and analysis regarding WPS Centers of Excellence and integration into how these centers will be sustainable through the Focal Points Network, building on past expertise with the WPS-FPN.
  • Coordinates regularly with the FPN Secretariat, Co-Chairs, the S/GWI Ambassador or designee, and the S/GWI WPS Policy Advisor coordinating on the WPS-FPN.
  • Supports the longevity of the WPS Centers of Excellence through providing expertise, engaging with civil society and international partners, and assisting with priorities related to outlining the roles of WPS Centers.
  • Engages with partner countries through the WPS-FPN on analysis for how the WPS Centers of Excellence will be sustainable through the FPN and UN Women’s leadership. Further engages with opportunities to advance the WPS Centers through existing initiatives on WPS Centers, as related to past engagement.
  • Support S/GWI with logistical coordination on the WPS-FPN events as they relate to workshops and technical learning sessions on the WPS Centers of Excellence, WPS Focal Points, and WPS NAPs for FPN members.
  • Co-facilitate (with WPS-FPN Co-Chairs, Secretariat, S/GWI, and Focal Points) training sessions and engagement opportunities on WPS Centers and NAPs with the WPS Focal Points.
  • Other duties as needed through consultations with focal point members and approved by S/GWI.

*EDUCATON AND EXPERIENCE*
**

  • Master’s degree in international politics/foreign policy, research & evaluation, social science, or other related fields.
  • Fifteen (15) years or more work experience on NAPs and WPS.
  • Experience teaching, coaching, and mentoring professionals on WPS and NAPs.
  • Experience on developing trainings and technical skills-building sessions related to WPS implementation.
  • Experience working with the WPS-Focal Points Network and the Secretariat.

  • English language (written and spoken) communications skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, coordinate activities in multiple locations, act decisively in daily work, and work well in a multi-cultural team environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently to assess priorities and manage daily coordination of details with minimal supervision.
  • Successfully pass a federal background check and a drug screen
  • Cherokee Federal employees are included as covered employees in U.S. Presidential Executive Order 14042, which mandates Covid vaccines for federal contractors. Executive Order 14042 is currently blocked from enforcement pending court proceedings. Therefore, Cherokee Federal is halting the application of the mandate; however, if the injunction is lifted, Cherokee Federal will restore administration of the vaccine requirement.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $170k - $175 k annually
