H.A. Phillips & Co. is searching for a Welder/Fabricator in the DeKalb, IL area. This is a critical role responsible for building ASME pressure vessels. Fabricators are required to read CAD drawings to layout, fit up and weld custom designed pressure vessel tanks in all sizes ranging from small 6-inch diameter tanks to large 12-foot diameter tanks weighing 20 Tons. We also fabricate piping assemblies that package pressure vessels together with pumps, valves, heat exchangers and other various components.

Requirements:

  • Strong work ethic, desire to learn and attendance is a must. Others need not apply.
  • 3+ Years Welding/Fabrication experience
  • Ability to read CAD drawings
  • Basic/Intermediate Math Skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reads CAD drawings and plan the layout of pressure vessel heads and shells.
  • Cuts holes for nozzles, prep and weld pressure vessel and assembly components using GMAW, FCAW, SMAW and SAW. (All welders are certified by H.A. Phillips & Co. in accordance with Section IX of the ASME Code in 1G, 2G and 6G positions. All testing is done in house at our facility.
  • Uses information on the CAD drawings to inspect visually for aesthetic quality and adhere to the size of welds and dimensional correctness given on the print.

About the Company:  Since 1928, H. A. Phillips & Co. has designed and manufactured ammonia refrigeration products for industrial refrigeration applications worldwide. The company was founded by one of the pioneers of the ammonia refrigeration industry, Harry Alexander Phillips. Harry developed numerous patents related to modulating liquid level controls, refrigerant injectors, and automatic systems to protect refrigeration compressors from liquid ammonia slop-over. In 1975 Phillips obtained certification and began manufacturing ASME code pressure vessels. All these products and systems remain in common use throughout the industrial refrigeration industry and are sold worldwide.
