If you like variety in your work, this is the place for you. We are looking for a vibrant and excited candidate to fill this position with a desire to learn all the position and center has to offer! This position will serve as the Weekend Complex Coordinator and works closely with the WNC Agricultural Center General Manager and Assistant Managers providing support and oversight of weekend shows and exhibits on the grounds. The individual in this position will interact with show promoters, and exhibitors to meet the needs of the complex and each event.

This position is responsible for supervision of weekend staff, including coordination with event security. Position responsibilities include all aspects of management as it pertains to the show and facilities. This position will also assist in the preparation of facilities and grounds, troubleshoot maintenance issues related to events and RV rentals and complete billing for the events/shows. Additionally, this position assists in operation of the annual NC Mountain State Fair.

Normal work schedule is Friday–Sunday; 3PM-12AM. Occasional after hours and Holiday work may be required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Experience in supervising personnel.
  • Experience coordinating programs or events.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite Programs (Word, Excel, PPT).
  • Ability to operate equipment (i.e. tractor, dump truck, mowers, floor and parking lot sweepers, etc.)
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, and work in changing weather environments.
  • Ability to direct activities of support staff
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of individuals and groups.
  • Ability to communicate in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to self-motivate.
  • Ability to identify and accomplish and/or supervise completion of critical tasks and problem solve.
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
MANAGEMENT PREFERENCES:
  • Basic knowledge of horses, livestock, trade shows, and/or conventions, banquets and fairs.
  • Basic knowledge in the fields of electrical, plumbing, or carpentry.
  • Experience operating a Public Address (PA) system.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor s degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
