We are now accepting applications for this wonderful executive level opportunity to serve as the Administrator for the beautiful Washington Veterans Home (WVH) in scenic Port Orchard, Washington!

Please note - This is a full time and permanent position. Normal expected work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Varied work and facility events may require flexibility in work hours from time to time.

In addition, we provide critical community services through a variety of programs, and at our four State Veterans Homes located in Orting, Port Orchard, Spokane, and Walla Walla. These locations provide Medicare and Medicaid nursing home care to honorably discharged veterans, including, in some instances, their spouses, widows, or Gold Star Families.

We are looking for a wonderful Administrator for our Washington Veterans Home, a 240-bed Medicaid/Medicare long term care facility. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the financial management of the WVH, as well as oversight and command over multiple clinical and operational areas of the facility. Your key focus will be assuring administration over all areas of the home, including the day-to-day operations and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.

Duties

Some of what you'll be doing includes:


  • Providing input to Strategic Planning and leadership in collaboration with other executives to realize facility operational and strategic objectives.
  • Providing oversight of the biennium budget and annual allotments in partnership with the agency's Chief Financial Officer.
  • Collaborating with agency on contract services development and oversees local administration and review.
  • Planning and evaluating policies and procedures to maintain compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Developing, submits and oversees compliance for clinical survey and incident plans of correction in collaboration with the agency's leadership team.
  • Monitoring and evaluating resident satisfaction with quality of care and quality of life through communications, survey, observance and on-going discussion with residents and/or their representatives.
  • Managing major equipment purchases, overall facility functioning, space allocation and use.
  • Serving as the administrative contact for residents to present concerns or problems, and work to reach win-win solutions.
  • Overseeing facility-level implementation of agency programs and staying informed of changing regulations, market trends, and practices that may impact or indicate adoption by facility.
  • Ensuring appropriate and optimum use of the organization's resources and enhance the effectiveness of employees through timely appraisal and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

Required:


  • Bachelor's degree in health services administration, long-term care administration, health sciences, public health, public administration, business administration, or related field.
  • Valid Nursing Home Administrator License (required by federal law).
  • Experience in process improvement.
  • Understanding of Federal and State regulations related to resident care, personnel, and financial management.
  • Understanding of principles of administration and management, training and staff development to include the professional staff.
  • Demonstrated leadership and proven effectiveness working with labor organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, proven ability to interpret data and strong familiarity with contemporary management principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated commitment to LEAN management principles, innovation, and process improvement
Desired:
  • Three years' experience as a Nursing Home Administrator.
  • Master's degree in health services administration, long-term care administration, health sciences, public health, public administration, business administration, or related field.
  • Experienced in long-term care requirements, particularly with a veteran population.
  • Strategic planning experience.
