Job description

At Black Box VR, we are creating the world’s first virtual reality (VR) gym experience. Our mission is to help our members transform their lives through addictive fitness experiences that harness the power of immersive technologies. If you love being on the cutting edge of tech, gaming or fitness trends, or better yet–all of the above–BBVR is on the verge of something big and we’d love to have you join our energized team!

We are seeking energetic, friendly candidates who are excited to revolutionize fitness! Our Front Desk Staff or in Black Box terms - Hero Trainers, are a truly important member of the BBVR family, fostering positive relationships with members and providing an enthusiastic, welcoming atmosphere at our gyms. Since VR fitness is a new concept, it is important to learn the technology (don’t worry–we have an existing team of savvy rockstars ready to teach you!) so you’re ready to answer any questions that members may have. If you thrive in customer-centric roles and are looking for a genuinely welcoming, growth-oriented team, we may have the perfect work home for you!

Front Desk Staff (Hero Trainer) Duties:

  • Be the face of Black Box VR–greet members as they arrive and make them feel both at ease and excited to be there.
  • Monitor access to the facility by ensuring members check-in upon arrival.
  • Answer incoming phone calls promptly and courteously.
  • Communicate information about gym events, hours, etc. with members to keep the community engaged and aware of any changes.
  • Willingness to learn how to troubleshoot VR hardware, software and booth as necessary to maximize gym efficiency.
  • Enthusiastically engage potential customers; confidently answer membership questions and convert prospects into members.
  • Maintain the gym by keeping it clean, organized and well-stocked with our basic provisions.
  • Utilize Black Box not just for your own fitness goals, but to understand the VR game and connect with our members.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Reliable transportation
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Ability to work a non-traditional schedule. Weekend, holiday and some early mornings or late evenings are expected.
  • CPR certification is provided by BBVR if you do not have it. If you are certified, it must be from the American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute.
  • Experience or interest in Esports, fitness, VR technology, and/or video games is preferred, because work is a big part of your day and we want you to enjoy it!
  • An enthusiastic personality with the desire to foster a culture of service.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all segments of the community.
  • Ability to work as part of a team. Develop harmonious relationships with staff, members, and prospects.
  • Must be able to stand for long durations of time, kneel, bend and reach.
  • Must be able to lift/carry a minimum of 30lbs.
