What does a Universal Banker at CNB do?
The Universal Banker is a branch flex player, spending time at a Teller station and platform desk depending on the needs of the customer and branch. The Universal Bank is responsible for providing an exceptional in-branch client experience by developing relationships with customers, identifying additional selling and cross selling opportunities, and processing transactions. The Universal Banker may also assist with other branch operational duties, up to and including Service Manager. As a member of the branch team, this position complies with operating policies and procedures, as well as outside regulatory requirements. The Universal Banker communicates with branch management and staff with respect to sales and services. The time spent in the various roles will vary by the specific needs of the assigned branch office. Knowing both teller and platform skill sets is integral to being able to help the customer with whatever their need may be.
What competencies are needed to be successful in this role?

  • Bachelor’s degree. Equivalent education and work experience will be considered.
  • Notary certification or willingness to obtain as requested.
  • Ability to build relationships, communicate with co-workers and customers verbally and in writing.
  • Sales Skills and a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all bank products and services.
  • Knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures.
  • Ability to assist with training branch staff.
  • Proficiency with a PC and associated programs (such as Microsoft Office).

What does a successful first year in this position look like?_*

  • Able to perform all the responsibilities of a Teller.
  • Assists customers with inquiries or service problems.
  • Build relationships with customers to solicit new business from new and existing customers.
  • Maintain ongoing business relationships, while maintaining a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of the bank’s products and services
  • Provides direct service to customers with respect to deposit, loan, trust, and other bank products and services. May approve or reject loan applications within individual lending authority.
  • Assist customers with obtaining services from other bank departments as necessary.
  • Follow all operating procedures in the branch. I.E. opening/closing, vault cash, securing negotiable documents, order currency and coin, etc.
