Central Garden & Pet Company’s, Nylabone - Pet Segment located in Neptune City, NJ, and Monroe, NJ is searching for a Senior Tooling Engineer. The Senior Tooling Engineer will be responsible for designing, reviewing, and improving all aspects of our mold designs. This specifically includes extensive knowledge of interpreting 3D CAD drawings and injection molding processing to improve the development of our manufacturing processes. This position is a key leadership role within the company with high visibility and is ideally suited for candidates seeking long-term growth.

- Creating 3D CAD drawings and printing, preferably with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and/or Pro-E
- Design injection-mold fabrication and extrusion processes.
- Provide technical support to production regarding processing issues and quality problems due to material, machine, process, or tooling issues.
- Create and improve injection mold and extrusion machinery.
- Understand molding materials along with material preparation, handling, and machine rheology.
- Develop and design engineered plastic parts, and insert molded parts and assemblies.
- Establish the parameters for an optimal molding environment and design necessary components.
- Analyze quality control and correct flaws. Document mold and machine information for process sheets and troubleshooting information.
- Review existing validation reports while maintaining CAD files and updates.
- Analyze mold flow, part advisor analysis, finite element analysis, and stress/fatigue analysis on plastics.
- Design hot/cold runner molds, develop 3D solid mold designs, and prepare mold-filling simulations.
- Create water diagrams and hot runner wiring schematics.
- Work with vendors to provide new molds, Hot Runner platforms, and repair molds due to damage or quality issues along with spare parts.
- Provide purchase requisitions for purchases, control finances, and coordinate purchases, deliveries, and follow-up with other departments.
- Work with the Research Development and Marketing groups on new projects/parts through mold design and quotes and the printing of 3D parts for evaluation and review.
IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES:
- Minimum 5 years of Plastic Injection Mold Experience.
- Must have critical thinking skills, a desire to improve processes, and the ability to take ownership of activities.
- 7 years experience in tool application and design.
- Knowledge and working understanding of tool construction and corrective/repair recommendations. Extensive experience in the design and development of high-cavitation thermoplastic injection molds.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for dealing with all levels of staff, customers, suppliers, and operations.
- Hands-on experience with CAD/CAM software and MS Office.
- Demonstrated success in handling multiple priorities and working in a fast-paced environment.
