This position is responsible for leading SIL support staff members ensuring cost-effective use of facilities, equipment, and material in support of technical and research projects/programs to ensure reliable operations of systems, sub-systems, and general lab environments. Coordinates constantly changing program requirements with the activities of staff who perform engineering and sciences support functions by fabricating, modifying, testing, calibrating and/or maintaining a variety of technological equipment and machines.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Leads and works alongside a team of senior technicians and System Test Analysts (STAs) based on project/company priorities.
  • Coordinates with other SIL team members to ensure SIL requirements are achieved and SIL users are well supported enabling the users to be efficient and effective while in the SILs.
  • Directs and oversees the fabrication, modification, installation, repair and/or maintenance, and testing of research and laboratory equipment, including company and customer owned items.
  • Participates in developing, interpreting, and coordinating complex tasks based on engineering designs, specifications, procedures, and/or test operations; plans the most efficient sequencing; ensures projects are driven to be on schedule and within budgets.
  • Jumps in, side-by-side with our engineers, planners, material team, technicians, and STAs to meet SIL users’ needs. This is a hands-on roll.
  • Develops and maintains record keeping, personnel evaluations and reports, scheduling and budget performance of their direct reports.
  • Collaborates on activities with other groups while ensuring projects are completed safely on schedule.
  • Conducts briefings and participates in technical meetings for internal/external representatives as needed.
  • Ensures procurement and movement of required materials, tools and parts occurs to meet project and SIL needs.
  • Interprets and executes policies and procedures; recommends modifications to operating procedures.
  • Participates in the planning, selection, training, and retention of staff.
  • Acts as a mentor for staff members, working with them to get applicable training, meeting 1:1 on a regular basis to provide feedback and evaluation to promote knowledge and skills growth.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to establish a safe workplace in accordance with established operating procedures & practices.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline and a minimum of five or more years of related experience. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • Must have experience in two or more of the following: digital/analog electronics, software loading/configurations, system assembly/troubleshooting, computer skills in a lab environment.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them in an evolving environment while contributing to the development of new processes.
  • Must be customer focused.
  • Possess the ability to identify issues, analyze data and develop solutions to a variety of problems.
  • Possess good analytical, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings.
  • Good interpersonal skills enabling an effective interface with other professionals on the team.
  • Strong computer skills as applied to a lab environment.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential, as is the ability to work extended hours as required.
  • Ability to obtain and keep a security clearance.
Desired Qualifications
  • Similar job related experience with avionics in DoD/Aerospace/Aeronautical industry is highly desirable
  • Technical knowledge of GA-ASI product lines (e.g., MQ-9 UAS)
  • Experience with simulation hardware/software highly desired
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize work, and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, strong inter-personal skills, and teamwork/team-player
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and schedules
