The Technical Writer I will provide long-term support of NA Operations by drafting service and maintenance procedures for renewable energy infrastructure, in support of global self-perform strategy. Researches and drafts technical documentation for wind and solar technologies service and maintenance, including repair techniques, tool and supply lists, and safety cautions developed from existing material or interviews with SMEs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Works closely with engineers, technicians, and safety specialists to ensure safe and accurate work procedures.
• May navigate workflows to get documents approved by SMEs in Fleet Technical Support, Operations site staff, and HSE.
• May participate in software testing and provide feedback to support document/content management system development.
• Technical Writer I role includes proofreading and markup of less-experienced writers’ work, may include dispatching and assigning projects, and assessing quality-of-work.
• This is a Technical Editor-in-training role.

Work Experience Requirements

• Consistent background (1-3 years) in writing and revising technical procedures in a collaborative environment.
• Strong mechanical inclination, relevant degree(s) a plus, but not showstoppers.
• Strong software and database skills, familiarity with Adobe, Word, and markup language editors like oXygen also pluses.
• Additional experience as a technical copywriter or a trainer/teacher also good to have.
• Mechanical and/or/tool knowledge very helpful.
• Highly qualified applicants will have proven wind documentation experience, knowledge of RWE systems, and an understanding of company writing, tooling, and safety standards.
• Willing and able to travel to power plants in North America and gain RWE climbing certification to document mechanical procedures.
• Willing and available to travel, must be able to make the necessary adjustments to the plans to respond to changing conditions, i.e. energy markets, project schedules, supply chain and energetic availability.
