Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Supervisor - Food + Nutrition.

In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the catering functions and completing administrative tasks as required

Job Responsibilities:

    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • Supervises all catering staff. Provides needed coverage of work area while maintaining authorized staffing levels and position control. Defines the expected outcome and time of completion clearly to the employee. Monitors the work of staff to insure that they are carrying out their assignments correctly. Interviews prospective employees and makes recommendations regarding hiring to the manager. Explains to the employee clearly what his/her responsibilities are and the standards of performance for the position. Brings to the employees attention areas of performance needing improvement as soon as they are recognized with a plan and a time frame for correction. Evaluates the performance of each employee upon completion of the probationary period ad on an annual basis; when performance dictates the need, completes additional evaluations. Establishes goals and objectives for each employee and a target date for their completion as part of the evaluation process; follows up with employee to monitor their progress. Counsels and disciplines employee when necessary, in accordance NYULMC Human Resource policies and procedures. Insures that employee dress code regulations are followed according to NYULMC and food service standards.
    • Completes quality assurance activities in accordance with NYULMC and food service department policies and procedures. Completes daily Q.A. activities on appropriate log forms (i.e. Refrigerator/freezer temperature record, dish machine temperature record, sanitation inspection, and daily supervisors report) and on a timely basis. Reports any problems in above areas to appropriate maintenance personnel.
    • Costs out and posts completed contracts. Determines the price of the catering contract according to price and portion book. Posts contracts by number, date, name of sponsor, budget number and total amount. Updates the price and portion book on a monthly basis. Completes invoices for all catering functions on appropriate forms. Sends cash invoices to sponsor and summarizes changes/sales on appropriate forms.
    • Maintains a sanitary and safe operation in accordance with federal, state, and local health regulations. Institutes and monitors the mandatory application of proper handwashing and utensil sanitizing procedures. Insures that floors, equipment, and repairs are maintained according to safety standards as determined by local, state, and federal health codes.
    • Establishes and attends meetings and in-services for catering employees. Meets with employees on a weekly basis to discuss topics and issues; maintains written minutes of each meeting and gives them to the in-service coordinator. Trains new staff effectively; instructs them in their position responsibilities and the policies and procedures of the area. Attends meetings and in-services within NYUMC and outside of the Medical Center on a regular basis.

Trains new staff effectively; instructs them in their position responsibilities and the policies and procedures of the area. Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Associates Degree in Food Service Management, Dietetics, or a related field. Additional management experience may be substituted for the degree on a year for year basis.Must be able to perform computer skills to use departmental information systems: Epic, ICIS, and CBORD. (Training will be provided in orientation period)Must be knowledgeable of diet modifications to meet for compliance to specific diet order.Five years management experience in hospitality/ food service industry.Follows Proper safety, hygiene and sanitation practices in all areas of service (HACCP)Certified in ServSafe program (within 6 months of hire)Must be able to read, write and speak EnglishMust be able to follow verbal and written instructions

B.S. preferred

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $58,500.00 - $60,840.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
