POSITION SUMMARY

The Physician will provide direct patient care to patients from neonate through geriatrics, including prenatal and gynecologic care, according to community standards for clinical practice, primary care protocols, procedures and guidelines, and standards for advanced clinical practice.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Discuss symptoms with patients and perform a thorough examination.
  • Oversee mid-level providers conducting patient wound care
  • Assist as needed in wound care services, provider coverage
  • Order x-rays and lab tests and analyze them for diagnosis.
  • Complete initial assessment and evaluation of new patients.
  • Complete semi-annual and annual assessment of patients.
  • Complete reassessment of established patient after a significant change in the patient's health status.
  • Provide ongoing monitoring of patient's medical condition and provides treatment.
  • Authorize and coordinates all specialty and ancillary services.
  • Provide high quality, evidence-based out-patient care for illness & injury for psychosocial & preventive health needs consistent with the full scope of services of Legend Health.
  • Contribute to QI, peer review & national accreditation efforts in-service training, support service enhancement, special projects, and committee work.
  • Treat minor injuries and illnesses.
  • Perform First Aid care and sutures.
  • Administer medications and immunizations.
  • Communicate with patients on appointment scheduling and treatment progress.
  • Keep thorough records of all patient examinations, diagnoses, and treatments.
  • Issue appropriate prescriptions and administer medicine.
  • Inform physicians about any problems or discrepancies that might arise.
  • Acquire and review patient histories identifying abnormal conditions.
  • Monitor patients’ progress and keep records of treatments, surgeries or other medical events.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and conduct routine procedures (measure blood pressure and temperature, administer injections etc).
  • Provide therapeutic treatments (disinfecting wounds, stitching etc.).
  • Cultivate a climate of trust and compassion for the patients.
  • Comply strictly with medical care regulations and safety standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members of various specializations.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Proven experience as an APP in an outpatient clinic, hospital, ER emergency department or related setting
  • Wound Care experience
  • Expertise in primary care, internal medicine, acute care, and chronic care practices
  • Experience in delivery of outcomes driven, Value Based Care
  • Knowledge of health and patient care regulations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Bi/Multilingual is a plus! (We need Spanish, Arabic, Farsi, Bengali)
  • Strong ethics

  • Patience and cool headedness
  • Willingness to continue gaining knowledge and clinical experience

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, plus a variety of other word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and presentation software.
  • Spoken and written fluency in English.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

MIINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:

  • CME appropriate to assigned duties.
  • MD/DO degree from accredited medical school and residency in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a MD or DO in the State of Michigan.
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active DEA license.
  • Must be knowledgeable of current medical practices and procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.
  • Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing medical practices.
