The Special Events Assistant provides support to the Director, Special Events & Community Relations in planning and implementing events to increase the awareness of the College. Primary responsibilities include scheduling, coordinating and providing on-site management assistance for facility use and events; and recommending and developing strategies for special events, programs and services to support and position the College’s branding in the community.

This is a part-time position with scheduled hours not to exceed 25 hours per week. Weekend and evening hours are required on an as needed basis.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement marketing activities and events to increase the awareness of the College.


  • Plan, coordinate, and assist the Director, Special Events & Community Relations in special events sponsored by the College.

  • Schedule, coordinate and provide on-site management assistance for facility use and events.

  • Recommend and develop strategies for special events, programs and services to support and position the College’s branding in the community.

  • Write and prepare memos, correspondence and other related documents.

  • Implement quality control measures for all tasks and responsibilities related to the position.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.


  • Three (3) years of work experience in meeting/event planning is required.

  • Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Word and Excel and Internet search proficiency required.

  • Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines required.

  • Ability to work evening hours and weekends, as needed, is required.

  • Excellent time management skills required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates/Bachelors Degree preferred. Any and all degrees must be from a recognized institutional accreditor.
  • Previous work experience in an educational institution preferred.


  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Access and PowerPoint preferred.
