SUPERVISOR: Sod Farm Production Manager

EMPLOYEMENT STATUS: Non-Exempt

SALARY RANGE: $12.00 - $20.00

ALL FULL TIME POSITIONS: In addition to your pay, your salary also includes Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance. The Biweekly deduction from employee paycheck is $40.00 for Employee Only, $95.00 Employee plus Children, $120.00 Employee plus Spouse, and $140.00 Employee plus family.

Must be insurable through Citizen Potawatomi Nation

JOB SUMMARY: The Sod Farm Laborer working under the direction of the Sod Farm Production Manager will operate, maintain, and move such equipment as necessary to conduct sod sowing, mowing, cutting, stacking, loading, and installing.

RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS: Under the direction of the Sod Operations Manager the Sod Farm Laborer will:

• Ensure that assigned equipment and appurtenances are in safe operating condition
• Ensure that the necessary transport equipment is in safe operating condition
• Ensure that equipment when loaded is property secured for transport
• Ensure that he/she is briefed on safe operation of all assigned equipment and transport vehicles
• Ensure that he/she has the necessary safety equipment including but not limited to safety glasses or goggles, hearing protection, hard hat, gloves, and other protective clothing as may be necessary for the weather and conditions.
• Make him/herself familiar with and conduct routine preventive maintenance activities on all equipment assigned
• Conduct sod sowing, mowing, irrigation, cutting, stacking loading and shipping operations with the assigned equipment on parcels as assigned by the Sod Operations Manager
• Basic knowledge of tractor, forklift, and skid steer operation.
• Must have and maintain a valid Oklahoma Commercial Driver’s License preferred.
• In the event of equipment breakdown or failure, coordination with other Departments or outside contractors to effect equipment repairs
• Additional duties as assigned by the Sod Operations Manager

SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma required
• Heavy equipment operations tech school preferred
• 1 year verifiable experience operating farm equipment
• 1 year verifiable experience loading, unloading, and hauling heavy equipment with heavy duty pickup and goose neck trailer
• Some mechanical skills and the ability to make minor repairs on equipment
• Must have clean driving record
• Must have personal automobile insurance

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Location Sod Farm Operations office and on various and many land parcels of CPN
• Environment is outdoors in all weather and climate conditions
• Dress code suitable for outside in all seasons
• Shift 8 hours /5 day/week, Non-Exempt, Seasonal work may include overtime hours

NEEDED ATTRIBUTES: Candidate must have the ability to load, move, work with and operate heavy equipment, specifically farm equipment with a variety of attachments and other types of heavy equipment such as tractors, brush hogs, front end loader, etc.
