Social Worker (LSC, LPC, LSW, BCBA)

Description:

The Social Worker is a strong student advocate responsible for supporting referred students in targeted skill-building in the areas of social, emotional, or behavioral development. The counselor will use previous and current data to assess student SEB response and individual needs. The counselor will have a particular focus on improving student SEB success in the classroom, subsequently increasing student in-class instructional time and/or academic success. The Social Worker will take into account teacher instructional and management style and provide suggested supports, materials and/or strategies when applicable. The SW will collaborate with parents and staff in a professional manner to ensure the support and agreement of all participants.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to: K-12 Restorative Interventions Counseling Coordinator

Direct Reports: This is a non-supervisory position.

Compensation:

This is a full-time, 209-day position. Salary range is noted on the 209-day salary scale on the Pinnacle website. See a detailed outline of benefits and additional compensation at the bottom of the job description.

Essential Functions:

  • The Social Worker will receive referrals from the counseling department and collaborate with counselors, psychologists, teachers, administrators and parents to develop an individualized plan.
  • Conduct classroom observations to gather data.
  • Create Bx plan that includes details of intervention(s), duration, frequency, participants, method of data collection
  • Provide push-in behavioral coaching, when indicated in Bx plan.
  • Keeps an updated schedule of sessions and tasks
  • Attend parent-teacher, parent-administrator, parent-counselor, and/or 504 meetings
  • Attends mental health/counseling department meetings
  • Gather pre- and post-data to evaluate efficacy of tier 3 interventions, and communicate this with supervisor and stakeholders
  • Works with counselors to conduct individual and/or whole school assessments, gathering valuable data to drive goal-setting, mental health initiatives, and decision-making
  • Serves as a member on the crisis support team
  • Performs additional duties as needed and assigned
  • Regular and timely attendance

General Abilities, Knowledge, Qualifications, and Skills:

  • LSC, LPC, LSW, BCBA
  • Current in ASCA practices and standards
  • Experience working in schools
  • Ability to collaborate with the mental health team
  • Familiarity with school assessment tools, SRA and TA protocols
  • Knowledge of Infinite Campus and confidential entry preferred
  • Understanding of Restorative Practices and their importance in the classroom.
  • Strong time management skills to support caseload proportionately
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate while appreciating the diverse background of students, parents, peers, and the community
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator
  • Creative and flexible in time of change
  • Demonstrated success as an innovator of creative solutions at work
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills (conflict management and resolution).
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Experience with second language learners.
  • Growth-oriented approach; always looking for ways to improve professionally
  • Professional appearance, attitude, and demeanor

Working Conditions:

Exposure/Noise Level: Occasional exposure to airborne particles, fumes, and outdoor weather conditions. Normal school environment with moderate to high noise level.

Mental Functions: Analyze, collaboration, communicate, compare, compilation of data, compute, coordinate, copy, direct, evaluate, instruct, interpersonal skills, present, report, synthesize.

Physical Activities: Office and school environment including computer interface. Bend, reach, sit, stand, stoop, talk, walk, and heavy person-to-person interaction with students, parents, peers, and community members.

Weight and Force Demands: Moderate physical activity (lifting, pulling, and pushing up to 25 pounds).

Other: May be required to work outside of normal working hours and travel for work related functions.
