Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Associate II for the Department of Health Informatics within the School of Health Professions. Under the direction of faculty member, the Research Associate II is responsible for the independent conduct of a significant element of a larger research activity. Designs and conducts highly specialized and technical research.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Performs below research operations independently, relating to investigatory activities of a laboratory, followed by appropriate manuscript publications and grant preparations.
  • Clinical and Molecular Data download, quality control, and processing, using Unix/Linux computing cluster (including retrospective and prospective data from dbGaP and other sources).
  • Independent application and development of integrative statistical and machine learning approaches to Data Analysis.
  • Independent and group communication with clinical and experimental collaborators.
  • Independent and supervised preparation and submission of manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals, preparing presentations and posters for research meetings, assisting with grant writing and submission.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Ph.D. Degree or equivalent in a relevant science plus three (3) years of related research experience.

Certifications/Licenses

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Familiarity with Next Generation Sequencing Data.
  • Strong independent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong record of independent productivity and motivation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, as assigned.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of R programming language, experience with Unix/Linux operating systems, Next Generation Sequencing data download and processing (including single-cell data).
  • Experience with algorithms development and their implementation.
