Role Summary/Purpose:
The quality control inspector will work on a team or individually, to complete inspections and reports on large wind turbine components. The inspector will work to procedures, identify needed changes to procedures and assist in developing/revising written procedures. QC inspector will be responsible for adhering to all EHS policies/procedures.

Essential Responsibilities:
As the Quality Control Inspector you will:

  • Support team objectives and remain focused on safety, quality and timely execution
  • Work within the product schedule requirements
  • Provide oversight on contractors as needed
  • Participate in pre-work meetings to discuss lift plans, schedule, hazards and work requirements
  • Perform QC inspections of large wind turbine components
  • Troubleshoot complicated mechanical, hydraulic, electrical problems
  • Help in all areas of work preparation (coordination of labor and materials) with minimal supervision
  • Document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures as applicable
  • Communicate work status to management, leads and engineering as required
  • Perform NDT inspections with supervision of NDT Level II
  • Perform metrology measurements including CMM, PCMM equipment
  • Perform GBX functional testing
  • Create, document and report NCR’s to local quality management
  • Support RCCA investigations and participate in corrective actions

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Basic computer skills (smartsheet, excel, word)
  • Ability to use iPad/electronic devices is required
  • Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing
  • Minimum of 1 year or equivalent experience in quality function

  • Ability to work with a wide variety of personnel at all levels
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Wind turbine experience
  • Gearbox, shafting and/or generator repair experience
  • Ability and willingness to take initiative, and work without direct supervision
  • Electrical, hydraulic experience
  • Experience using precision measurement equipment
  • Experience using CMM equipment
  • Experience performing VT/MPI/DPI NDT inspections
  • Experience with heavy equipment with a working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements
  • Overhead Crane experience

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
