Overview:
Position Summary:

The Sr. Project Manager for Yusen Logistics Americas has a broad overview and scope of concurrent projects, work with project managers and other stakeholders to set project goals and objectives. They are responsible for day to day managing of large-scale, cross-functional programs that create efficiencies and improvements to the business. They identify and procure necessary resources, estimating project budgets, set project scope and schedules and finalize project plans.

Senior Project Managers provide leadership, guidance and support to project team, motivating them to hit project milestones and provide coaching and mentorship to Project managers.

Based on company guidelines and general Project Management methodology, independently plan and coordinate the successful execution of multiple, complex IT projects. Manage against the standard triple constraints of scope, schedule and cost while managing risk and ensuring quality.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Initiation & Planning
  • Develop project charter / project scope and obtaining buy-in from project stakeholders
  • Learn and apply Agile Methodology for Project Management
  • Learn and use Dev Ops as the primary tool for Project demand and management
  • Supporting the product owner in managing communications with stakeholders, managing customer’s expectations for deliverables, and implementing an effective project governance system.
  • Managing several concurrent projects.
  • Decide deadlines and budget of the project accordingly
  • Maintain status report of the project and also keep a record of the previous reports
  • Compile historical data available with the team and present it for reference of senior leadership and the team members on the project
  • Present status reports of the project to the leadership of the organization
  • Help in the development and implementation of agile projects
  • Assist in team development by removing road-blocks to their work, mentoring them and making a good utilization of organizational resources to improve capacity for project work
  • Promote empowerment of the team by ensuring that each team member is fully engaged in the project with meaningful contribution
  • Help the team achieve a high level of performance and quality, holding teams accountable for their work, removing obstacles, and mentoring less experienced team members.
  • Encourage a sustainable pace with high levels of quality for the team.
  • Defining the project’s schedule and scope while balancing this with timely and regular value deliveries, and organizing and leading working and project status meetings.
  • Document risks and escalate in a timely manner to minimize impact to business.
  • Creating long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines
  • Delegating tasks on the project to employees best positioned to complete them
  • Making effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project
  • Serving as a point of contact for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy
  • Communicating with executives or the board to keep the project aligned with their goals
  • Performing quality control on the project throughout development to maintain the standards expected
  • Adjusting schedules and targets on the project as needs or financing for the project change
  • Understanding project interdependencies account for those dependencies in planning
  • Update and provide input to the overall master project roadmaps
  • Identify or require skill-set and competencies to ensure that the project needs will be met and securing of such project resources based on project plan schedule
  • Mentor and coach Assisatant Project Managers and Project Managers to apply Project Management best practices and Agile Methodology
  • Act as an escalation point and work with project sponsors and decision makers to remove roadblocks
  • Act as a single point of contact between multiple Yusen global IT teams
  • Central POC for information flow to Yusen global regional business leadership
  • Lead regional IT teams through multiple projects while minimizing customer's need to duplicate efforts in different global regions
  • Share IT and Ops data, process and procedures across regions leading to global standardization


Project Execution and Control
  • Manage and report project schedule including critical path status, impacts and dependencies
  • Scope change management
  • Proactively address risks & issues, evaluating impact on critical path (if any), and developing / implementing counter measures to prevent reoccurrence
  • Ensuring that the resources assigned to the service or a to a specific project are fully utilized according to the pre-defined allocation
  • Assess technical risks and keeps team apprised of strategy to provide mitigations

Project Closure
  • Facilitating project “Lessons Learned” sessions

Project Communication
  • Facilitate project status meetings with internal team and project stakeholders on a daily basis that includes preparation of a formal meeting agenda, review of project schedule / tasks, discussion of project issues / risks, and documentation of formal meeting minutes / action items
  • Develop project status reports and other required artifacts (e.g., progress curves) and report to group Lead
  • Escalate major risks and issues to management and / or to the business stakeholders in a timely manner

Management and Practice Building
  • Foster open communication within the teams being managed and motivate these teams through individual and team recognition on a consistent basis
  • Quickly mitigate team conflict and communication issues
  • Proactively suggesting areas for improvement in internal processes and provide possible solutions
  • Keep project teams aware of relevant program / project related information including program schedule, organizational information, etc.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree plus equivalent plus 10-15 years pure Project Management experience in a medium to large company or ten years in a business analyst role developing project requirements in a medium to large company and five years pure project management experience.
